way to go ty ty.

also, cheers to Pittsburgh Bill and Talbot for the other goals.

I hope to live in a world someday where NHL preseason games are televised.

I also hope to live in a world where Ben Tumblesberger is worth the money the Steelers are paying him...

Man, if only I had said that an hour earlier...I would have had an honorary post. haha

I didn't even realize Eileen had already said it.

Tyler Kennedy=moneeeeeeeey.

fleuryous said...

And Curry and Sabu...they better get some credit for their amazing 'tending.

I think we should call Bill Thomas... Mr. Bill... ooooohhh noooooo

fleuryous said...

I think Bill Thomas should be nicknamed Dolla Bill, because he is MONEY. haha

Also, I won tickets to Wednesday's game! SO EXCITED.

It being autumn now, the Leafs gotta fall. WOOOOOOOOOOO.

coffeytalk said...

Bill Thomas-

I've been calling him Pittsburgh Bill and also just Home Town. I like Dolla Bill, though.

dolla dolla bill, y'all.

er should it be, dolla dolla bill, yinz?

I hope orpik lays the boom down on malone and breaks his uterus this season.

I JUST CAME UP WITH A LIMERICK. I love it:

There once was a goalie named Curry
He was one of the backups for Fleury
He committed highway robbery
A phenomenal jobbery
Collecting those pucks in a hurry.

Um, I'm in love with myself right now. haha

Eileen = money in the bank

That worked out a lot better than my "Ryan Stone will get the gamewinner" prediction on Saturday

debrisslide said...

Solid performance by Eileen.

I can't wait for real recaps though. :D

FLEURYOUS I LOVE YOUR LIMERICK. HAHAHA.

While I'm thinking of Tyler Kennedy:

Steiggy...I know you read this blog.

I want to pre-emptively urge you to stop it with "Tyler the tiger."

Really. Enough. He's a 22 year old man, not a 16 year old junior.

eileenover said...

Can I just tell you how honored I am to be in a tPB post?

TheNWChica said...

And WTG Eileen!

Some quick thoughts...dudes...

1. Dear NHL Network,

I love old hockey highlights as much as anyone; those things are a fucking barrel of monkeys during the summer when there's no hockey being played. But guess what? There are preseason games being played now. Take a page from the NFL Network. Televise some preseason games so maybe some people can get to see some of the new guys and maybe even some of these younger kids play, eh?

Love ya, kid,
Stoosh

2. Why can't anyone seem to find good announcers anymore? I'd rather listen to Rick Jeanneret get tanked on Old Granddad and read the phone book than listen to those fucktastic Tampa announcers. On top of that, I'm sitting here watching Monday Night Football and Tony Kornheiser is yammering on and on about how Brett Favre is probably regretting his decision to leave Green Bay because the Jets are getting their asses handed to them and he's not going to get the hero worship in New Yawwwwwwk that he got in Green Bay. Shut the fuck up, Tony.

3. Tumblesberger. Hahhahahahhaha

Hahahahhahhahha!!!

That's awesome. Tumblesberger.

4. I almost felt bad for Ben yesterday, but Stiller Nation needed to be brought down a peg or two (we beat up on the Texans and the Browns in the first two weeks), and there was something almost pathetic/comical about watching the offensive line cough, wheeze and fart through that game yesterday. THAT was the o-line we were all concerned about heading into this season. I'm not sure they could've blocked my two year old nephew yesterday.

5. John Curry = beast. First got a look at Curry last year at camp when he stoned Sid, Malkin and Sykora with the brass of a riverboat gambler on a breakaway drill.

6. I'll say it...I don't like the guy very much just because, but I think Sabu is going to be a decent backup this year. I don't know why. But I also like having Beast John Curry waiting in the wings at Wilkes-Barre.

7. (DISCLAIMER: IHK, I know you love him and please know that this isn't directed at you...this is just a blanket statement.)

Am I the only one who after two preseason games is already tired of hearing about Ryan Malone? He had a great playoff run and was fun to watch last year, but this is also the guy who spent the better part of the previous two seasons building a house on the trading block because he only played when he wanted to play. Good luck, Godspeed, but let's move the hell on.

Good call Eileen. Hope you can do that in the regular season as well

TheNWChica said...

Commit to the Stoosh!

coffeytalk said...

i knew you'd like Tumblesberger, Stoosh!!

I am loving this Curry kid. He looks even more like 12 year old boy than Fleury does.

He's gonna be a very hot netminder. Or should I say spicy?

fleuryous said...

Where's Eileen sitting?!

Ours are C3, by the way.

NHL Live! made it's season II debut on NHLN today...

Caught some of the replay early this evening:

•Don LaDouche looks like he lost about 50 pounds.
•EJ Hgrabass looks like he gained about 50 pounds. [musta been hanging out in sleazy AC boardwalk bars, tossing back Coronas, all summer....allegedly.]

You'd walk in and we'd all shout "TUUUUURRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKK!!!!"

Turk -

I missed that. I completely forgot that was on tonight. For some reason, I keep thinking tonight is Sunday night and I don't know why.

Hradek...he might have spent the summer on the Stoosh Diet Plan. What the hell is up with that clown? He was solid when he was on ESPN, then he must have gotten paid to come over to the NHL Network and be their resident douchebag or something.

HA!

I'm focusing on getting my Yahoo! fantasy hockey team [COBAINS] in order!!!!....BTW, if you don't want Hossa...I'm all ears for a trade.

I've been conversing with Slush tonight [One Eyed Monsters] and she's on top of things!

stoosh...

It looks like they'll be following the same schedule as last year: live show 12-2p...replay 5-7p.

EJ looked bad. His hair was all f'ed up and looked like he was wearing clothes that hadn't been washed in awhile...

Maybe tPBs scandalous pics wrecked his marriage!

Where's NHL2Night when you need it?

If only NHLN could snag Buccigross and maybe someone like Chicken Parm Ray Ferraro to do a show!

eileen...

any Powerball™ numbers for Wednesday's drawing would be greatly appreciated.

@doc turkleton

What's the deal with fantasy hockey anyway? Is there going to be a second league with a livedraft or are we sticking with the autodraft teams?

And how the hell did I end up with Richards AND Riberio anyway? Crazy.

Dr. Turkleton said...

raybin...

I'm not sure...I haven't seen any new messages from Dan about another draft.

looks like we missed a hell of a game.. 9 fighting majors and 3 game misconducts? Dammit.

nice work penguins.

i officially think ill never catch up with cblog again. at least on gameday posts.

im delayed on games big time out here since they start at 4:30/5:30. might take a day or two to even watch.. DVR arrives wednesday! wooooo.

and no heroes spoilers, thankyou.

homesprout said...

With the loss, maybe TB should put those Stanley Cup parade plans on hold...

Raybin said...

@doc

Indeed.

Still, I think it worked out...

Hossa/Sykora as my RWs, Phaneuf and Chara on defense and Nabokov in goal? YES PLEASE.

I'm thinking Rolston may be sitting in favor of Prospal...at least, if he's going to play with Lecavaljoke and St. Louis or not. I suspect it'll be Malone in the top LW spot, given what they shelled out for him.

meecrofilm said...

Nice to see our C team beat their B team after they did the same thing the other night.

Curry and Sabutage sounded on their games. Good stuff.

fleuryous, I'm going on wednesday. Can't wait to be back in the good ol' mellon (coughciviccough) arena for some hockey....

Dr. Turkleton said...

raybin...

I'm happy with my squad, despite having the 10th pick out of 10 teams...to land Zetterberg & Kovalchuk is otay by me.

I've never played Head 2 Head style...but, judging by the daily Lineup row near the top of the team page, we might be able to change our lineups daily during the scheduled 'matchup week'.

Which would be cool...example: Sykora/Pens are off on a particular day...put Syko on the Bench [BN] & plug Eric Cole into that RW slot [BTW: that's a nice bonus for Cole: he has a LW/RW designation]

Wonder if Cooke didn't play tonite, as the Ning might've tried for some retribution for what he did to Vinny Lecavaligay at the end of last year...[borderline cheapshot/blindside hit on an already injured shoulder that still seems to be bothering Vinny....I liked the hit at the time...now that Cookie is on our side, I LOVED THAT HIT!!!!]

from a 4.3.08 recap:

The Lightning, playing out the string in last place, dropped their third straight overall and fifth in a row on the road. They lost leading scorer Vincent Lecavalier with 13:15 remaining in the game when he hurt his shoulder falling awkwardly after a hit by Washington's Matt Cooke.

Lecavalier will have an MRI on Friday and will miss Saturday's regular-season finale at Atlanta.

"It's an absolute cheap shot," Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella said. "We have stick fouls - stick foul after stick foul - and then I see that. It's a guy in a vulnerable position. It's an interference if the puck isn't anywhere near him, and that isn't called. It's an absolute cheap shot."

Cooke > Ruutu

Could be just wild speculation on my part, too....

Dan said...

I guess they changed the scoring after the game or something since now it says Talbot Kennedy and Letang with the goals.

Kierstan said...

I listened to the game at work tonight...it sounded like TK just had a hell of a game overall. It also sounded like the goaltending was definitely solid. Those are positive signs for the season that I was definitely happy to hear. :)

Who is going to the game on Wednesday?

I am, and I have a request for anyone sitting in one of the balconies. Plz, plz make a sign that says "Satan Worshippers," preferably one that will be there for the regular season. I'd do it myself, but I'm right in the middle of D23 and have nowhere to put it.

Chris Crocker says, "Leave Ryan Malone! Just leave him alone. Seriously!"

Am I alone in thinking that Curry > Sabu?

Sabu's blue book value = 9.82 Euros + 2 jelly donuts + 1 piece of bubbleyum

Max Power said...

Also, Shark's Torrey Mitchell is out with a broken leg.

Lady Jaye said...

@dying alive > We thought about doing something like that but we wondered if the sign would be considered offensive and have to take it down. ;)

FireFox said...

FireFox here, self-proclaimed unofficial, PensBlog Cblog reprensentative for Pittsburgh South. :)

I went to the game last night with visions of Crosby and Malkin and Staal dancing in my head. After the game I could see why they don't broadcast preseason games. Who the hell were those guys wearing Pens jerseys? Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the game regardless of who plays. But when Max Talbot is your first line center, you can't help but do a "WTF?!"

Despite the fact that Pittsburgh South put out a significant part of their season roster and we had maybe 6, we still beat them. The Pens seemed to keep the penalties down and moved the puck well. The defence was a little sof but the goaltending stood up well. I will say that Eaton and LeTang made a great defense pairing. LeTang was a beast and was all over the place. Eaton was just solid as usual. (Sporting a new number 7 I see.)

Stamkos for all his hype made no noticable presence on the ice. So to answer the age old question of "Seen Stamkos?" Nope, sure didn't.

kamechiha said...

I want to know what happened with the fights and game misconduct

and FUCK KOCI

dying alive said...

@ lady jaye - I thought about that too, but I think it would probably be OK. The Pens organization seems to have something of a sense of humor, and you could always object to having it taken down on religious grounds.

I was wondering what was up with Eaton wearing #7. Maybe it's a joke because he's been the unluckiest man on the planet for the past two seasons.

Tony Little said...

buried it...

Max Power said...

I don't think that they would ask you to take that sign down

Dan said...

@dying alive - he grew up a pens fan and really liked Coffey... so now he is 7 since wearing 77 would be a dick move. He said he never even liked 3. I don't really remember where i read or heard that.
