BGL is a much better skilled hockey player than most other goons out there, but that doesn't make him any less a goon, nor a great hockey player.
If he's gone, as it certainly seems will be the case, he will be missed in the same way Colby Armstrong is missed.

Like I said last post, Hall was becoming a favorite of mine. He takes chances and shoots the puck, which payed off for him. We need a guy like that. I don't keep track of WBS so I don't know who we can call up, but whatever. I'm waiting to see what happens next.

For those wondering about Godard he is more of a stand and throw fighter from a distance fighter, compared with Laraque who loves to get in close clinch throw a few punches and then wrestle to the ground. I'd say with Godard we probably have the best "enforcer" in the East. He should pound out Cote quite a few times and thats all the more I could want.

I agree with you...as fighters go, Laraque showed some pretty decent hockey sense and decent puck skills. Godard doesn't have quite the same skill set.
However, Laraque made $1.3M last season and was probably going to be looking at having to take a pay cut to stick around. So if bringing in a cheaper alternative like Godard also means the Pens are able to keep someone like Ruutu at the expense of losing Laraque, I can deal with that.
I hate to see BGL go because I liked him, but if Laraque leaving eventually equates to someone like Ruutu sticking around, that would be a good tradeoff. Just my opinion.
