Sorry, vast sweeping generalizations are just all the rage right now.

But at least Dusan Umicevic is a liar. He reported in the Swedish Daily News that Mats Sundin had signed with the Vancouver Canucks, which the Sundin camp was quick to refute. [ TSN ]

"Pittsburgh has a great team, great people, great organization. I had to compare the two teams, and there's a little better chance to win the Cup in Detroit. I had a great time with Sid and playing on the power play with Geno [Evgeni Malkin], but the team in Detroit is something special. I know it's a short term, but we never talked about a one-year [deal] with Pittsburgh. We just talked about a long-term deal. I totally believe Detroit has the kind of team that can win it again."

First, bitches.
No need for hate on Swedes =)
ugh! my first real shot at a first, and i had to go to www.woot.com first and stare at camera specs for 5 minutes...
I want to love Vancouver, but they make it so difficult sometimes.
brndlynn (from last post)
that was the first time i ever saw a movie at the imax and it didnt disappoint... i had pretty good seats (fourth row up, almost center) so i had a nice view of the entire screen
ledger's turn as the joker actually left me disappointed that he wont be around to play him again because if they attempt to have the joker in another batman movie after this it just wont be the same... this morning i was thinking about it again and found it hard to believe that the same actor played mel gibson's son in The Patriot and the Joker last night... unreal performance from not only him, but I thought Aaron Eckhardt was great as Harvey Dent also... ive always been an Eckhardt fan (Thank You for Smoking is an unappriciated classic) and he didnt disappoint playing either Harvey Dent or Two-Face... Bale was very good as well, but that was expected, he's as solid as Bruce the billionare playboy as he is as Batman... awesome flick... ranks up at the top for me with Casino and American Gangster as movies i could probably watch over and over and not get tired
Rock...
wow talk about mailing it in.....
gary oldman IS jim gordon too.
the dark knight could punch me in the balls, have sex with my sister and my mom, and i wouldn't care. that's how good it is.
dan
wow
that was extreme
im speechless
@ po: i couldnt even tell that it was Ledger. if i didnt know beforehand i wouldnt have believed it. i dont think they'll put the joker in another movie because no one will compare Heath. it would almost be disrespectful to his performance if they allowed someone else to play the part. he was unreal. he actually verged on too frightning. if it hadnt been for those couple funny parts (magic trick, "i just want my phone call") it would have been too much.
dan - haha. yeah, that pretty much covers it.
i have a firey passion of hatred for all things miley cyrus but eerie how much that song's lyrics fit the hossa situation..
i could actually see them putting someone else in as the joker, heath laid some fantastic groundwork for how the joker SHOULD be played (nicholson was a joke, i've been saying it for years). who would/could do it, i have not thought about, but i could definitely see it, he did say they are pretty much gonna go at it forever at the end.
i'm curious who the villian will be in the third as well. they did mention a cat in the movie........
I don't even count this is as a post. Staff is in full "mail it in" mode.
I have nothing to say about TDK except that I am a changed man after watching it.
Staff: I like the new get-up on the mainpage. Clutch.
Now I have some work to do, keep up the good fight.
Holy spoilers, Batman! District Attorney Harvey Dent is Two-Face?
That's like dropping the bombshell that Zappala is that dude who pretended to be Roethlisberger to go on dates with the Pittsburgh lovelies.
@ dan: maybe im influenced bc Heath died and thats why I cant see it being someone else. its not like Maggie Gyllenhal stepping in for Katie Holmes because Holmes sucked in Batman Begins. oh well, we shall see.
as for the next villian I think it would be interesting to see Cat Woman because of all that happened in regards to Rachel in this movie (i wont say more so that there are no spoilers). but they have set a precedent for villians so they'll have to choose the next one carefully.
@ brndlynn - i was hoping for mr. freeze, but i don't think he's realistic enough if nolan were to direct again. he only had a 2 movie deal. i guess we will find out in time who it will be.
@ dan: i could def see mr feeze. i think they will also introduce one of the female villians - such as Poison Ivy, Cat Woman, or Harley Quinn bc of her connection to the Joker. i wouldnt mind seeing Ra's Al Ghul either because i think mentally he matches up with batman well.
@ Penstone410 -
Remember our chat the other day about football players getting preferential treatment?
This is about as bad as it gets.
The words "institutional" and "incomptence" never fit so well in a sentence.
And to think that once upon a time, I was hoping Pitt would've tried to hire Ferentz away from Iowa (not that he ever would've left). I'm not naive enough to think that Wannstedt runs a completely spotless program - not one college football program in the country is spotless and that includes your Division III schools. But we're talking degrees of severity here, and this is about as bad as it gets.
STOP WITH TEH SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!!ONE!!!!!1!1!oen ;)
[j.s.: making attempt #3 to see TDK tonight.]
@stoosh
wow i hadn't even heard about that. i am kind of speechless, that so many administrators have such total disregard for what is right and wrong. and that's why these kids turn into the adults that they do.
and if i had a nickel for every time my own school has used the "We were told the school will take care of it. We will keep it in house. We will be swift. We will be just, and you don't have to worry about it." with regards to any issue, i'd be richer than Sid. now when its something as severe as assault, to do everything possible to make it unofficial/informal is just disgusting.
ive been using this a lot lately, but i think this deserves it the most:
*slow clap* for University of Iowa
@ brndlynn - they actually cast a very attractive blonde at some point for this movie, i really thought she was gonna be harley, but there was no sign of her. i think they way they are treating everyone in this series the riddler would be an intriguing choice as well. ra's al guhl is eternal, so you never know.
@ js: what spoilers? i thought we were doing pretty good in regards to not saying anything.
@ dan: it'll def be interesting to see who they pick for the next one. there are alot of good choices and only a few that would be bad. its a great sign for a movie that only 3 days after a movie premiered there are people discussing what they want for the next movie in the series.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, how's about not coming to c-blog until you do? It's mid-July, and it's not really difficult to stay away from this place right now.
TNT was playing all of the Batmans yesterday, and it got me to wondering who was going to be the next villain. You have the Penguin, and Lucius Fox did say something about Batman's suit being cat-proof or something to that effect. And after the travesty of Batman & Robin, i'd be curious to see Mr. Freeze in the new Nolan-Batman universe.
During the motorbike scene with Silverstone and O'Donnell, one of the riders crashed into some trash cans. There was an explosion of confetti and glitter that came out of the cans. Confetti. And glitter. Thank you Nolan brothers for rescuing this franchise.
Spoilers deleted so as not to be a dick. But seriously, go see the friggin' movie already.
wow jon - u having a bad morning? lol.
I would laugh if every female student withdrew from Iowa. Take care of it "in house"? What a joke.
Miley Cyrus speaks for everyone here. Now i've seen everything. And Penstone, you better watch what you're saying. She's going to be Supreme Ruler of our solar system very shortly.
it's like my friend and i said as soon as the movie was over. we've spent 2 years salivating over this, what are we gonna do now? well, this is what we are doing lol. i think their take on freeze would be great, i'm just not sure if they'd go for it because of the realism they aim for. this is assuming the nolan's decide to do the 3rd one.
Jonny V=Christian Bale
DJ from brookline: Just had a lil e-mail chat w/ old man smizik. Didn't think it was possible but his views are actually older then he is.
johnny v = will ferrell's ass
Nah Brandi, just kinda sux that we still can't discuss the movie proper.
Will Ferrel's ass while shooting peace signs.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go...
@ jon: i completely agree. trying to keep from giving anything away is really hard. luckily anyone who has followed the batman series knows that two-face was harvey dent so i wasnt worried about that one. but theres so many other things i could say if i didnt have to worry about spoilers. nice avatar btw.
@ dan: if nolan doesnt do another one i will cry.
haha thanks for posting my video i'm glad you liked it! :)
SHA
@jonny,
This is a Penguins blog site, correct? Not a Batman blog site?
Hossa and Miley ... genius haha
without the joker. there will be no harley quinn.
also, she was invented by the minds that ran Batman: the animated series. She is my favorite Batman character but I doubt she will ever be portrayed in a movie.
@ brett: it is a penguins site but at the same time the staff opened the door for batman talk when they had several posts mentioning or dedicated to the movie.
@ coffeytalk: i was kinda thinking the same thing but was hoping i was wrong.
brndy, Shawn said that Harvey Dent was Two Face and you mentioned lines from the movie :)
The comment was supposed to be a joke about people talking about the movie on here. I guess the overdramatic "stop talking about..." line didn't go over well.
jonnyv did bring up a good point. There should be a deadline where the movie can be brought up, spoilers included, within c-blog. Two weeks? One week? 82.5 hrs? Tonight? (j/k...maybe)
the whole miley cyrus thing went way over my head... im lost
@ coffey - if they liked her enough from the animated series to take her to the books, she can be taken to the big screen. of course the joker will have to be back for her. it would be great to do a story of the joker driving her to insanity inside arkham.
@ j.s: i didnt pick up on the sarcasm - sorry! the info i gave was pretty well known - if you read the comics you know dent=two face and i dont think the line said really gave anything away but whatev. not a big deal.
@ po: you're not the only one. i have no idea either.
dan-
i know. i just honestly don't want to see her on the big screen at this point. i can't imagine another joker right now and nolan (if he decides to take on the 3rd installment) won't do it.
whenever the 3rd gets rollin' expect it to be the last from this current cast. any batman movie made after this 3rd one, has quite the act to follow. i'd rather not tread into batman and robin territory. vomit.
I'm trying to see the movie this weekend ... I need to see it, I die a little more every day that I don't see it especially since I'm a Batman fan. I'm a prisoner of my family so I have an excuse ... I'm going w/ my best friend and another friend hopefully ...
Anyone else want to slap Sundin? Why can't he make up his mind? He's annoying as ever ...
@ ihk: he just needs to make up his mind. i dont know what the hell hes waiting for.
it's like my friend and i said as soon as the movie was over. we've spent 2 years salivating over this, what are we gonna do now?
I remember thinking the same thing when I walked out of the theater after seeing "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" and "Revenge of the Sith". What now? Both of those closed out respective series, and it sucked knowing that the story - for all intents and purposes - was over.
At least that's not the case here, as you'd think Nolan would at least explore the possibility of doing a follow-up to this.
This, I guess, is more like the wait from "The Two Towers" to "Return of the King", or perhaps "Attack of the Clones" to "Revenge of the Sith". The ones you saw were so awesome, it was hard to fathom that the third movie in the story promised to be that much better.
As is the case here, Ledger was so good as the Joker, it's hard to think of a character that might be even better.
@brndlynn: Im going to be as old as he is if he keeps waiting ... retire if you can't make up your mind, but don't Favre on us ...
retire if you can't make up your mind, but don't Favre on us
ZINGER!
brandy, nah, you didn't give away anything that wasn't already known or that couldn't be found on imdb. I'll admit to not following the series as closely as others, but even I knew those two were the same person.
Wooo.
For those who didn't see: Orpik Pez. I thought staff would have posted it! Ha ha.
I really don't think that stuff like Dent = Two-face is spoiling it. I'm pretty sure they make mention of the fact that Two-Face is Harvey Dent in the movies from the 90's. Now, giving away big pieces of the plot.. well that's just a Hossa (read: dick) thing to do. Friggen wikipedia blindsided me with a spoiler from TDK while I was reading about the Joker. I've been trying to wait for my wife to get back from Florida to see it, but I don't know if I can hold out.
Foly Huck TDK is two and a half hours long? Craziness.
taffe has been resigned, or so i'm told......
@ stoosh - i have never anticipated a movie like this, ever (the new star wars movies sucked, and i share the opinion of randall in clerks 2 on LOTR). i love spider man, and i didn't have this anticipation between 1 & 2 (i knew 3 was gonna suck, didn't even see it in theaters).
it's quite possible nolan is just tired of doing batman. money talks, though (cough*bugsy*cough)
as for topping the joker? he is bats main nemesis, that alone makes him hard to top. it's hard to give some of my theories yet because i don't want to spoil the movie. i really feel mr. freeze or the riddler would be appropriate on top of what else will happen in the next film.
i'd love for bale to be batman forever, but now he has to be stupid john connor. at least there's the watchmen to look forward to.......
@Dan: Watch it!!! Don't make me rant ...
The Riddler would be cool to have in the movie ... some of the characters I think would be a stretch because Nolan made it realistic with Batman and the other characters ...
Hey cool redesign!
dan: taffe is resigned.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Jeff Taffe to a one-year contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.
Taffe, 27, played 45 games for the Penguins during the 2007-08 season, scoring 12 points (five goals, seven assists) along with eight penalty minutes. He made his season debut with the team on December 20th vs. the Boston Bruins. Taffe scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win vs. the Montreal Canadiens on January 19th. He registered a four-game point streak from February 23rd to February 28th, scoring five points (two goals, three assists). Taffe matched a career-high with two points (one goal, one assist) on February 26th vs. the New York Islanders.
Taffe posted 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 27 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL), which was leading the team at the time of his recall to Pittsburgh. Taffe was signed as a free agent by the Penguins on July 13th, 2007.
The 6-3, 208-pound forward has registered 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) and 34 penalty minutes in 145 career games in the NHL split between the Penguins, Phoenix Coyotes, and the New York Rangers. The native of Hastings, Minnesota was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (30th overall) of the 2000 NHL Draft.
i love laffy taffy.
i was hopin' we'd keep him around.
is it preseason yet?
coffeytalk: sept 16th cant get here soon enough.v

Pierce Brosnan is a mans man
hey im pretty sure RE-SIGNED and RESIGNED mean completely different things.
on that note, this guy also RE-SIGNED.
Forward Jonathan Filewich signed a two-year contract.
Filewich, 23, made his NHL debut with the Penguins in January and played five games with the team. He had 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 71 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
jefe,
you are correct sir! that drives me crazy.
sorry guys. i was being lazy and forgot to add the - .
Taffe, Filewich, Bissonnette re-sign with Penguins
dont ever let it happen again
you've been warned...

loved the show, movie = disappointment
this might be something fun to do when youre bored.
Since there isn't much going on...we should definitely have a post dedicated to photojobbing Smizik
I saw the Dark Knight twice this weekend, and was in awe both times.
i was watching a behind the scenes thing on hbo hbo ondemand about tdk so im sure i can be excused this time. lol.
When You're watching old episodes of Charmed on youtube, things are really bad. Summer needs to end.

sometimes i sit on here and i forget that i actually have a job and i just zone out... then my phone rings or an email pops up and its like "ah horseshit, i forgot im an adult again"
Seven Things I Hate About Marian Hossa made me laugh. Did Crosby make it? Haha. Seriously though, seeing that OT goal against the Rangers gave me chills. Gah.
I need something to do in Photoshop.
Ok I'm goin to see TDK tonight at 4:40. I guess I'm not getting spellbound this afternoon on TNT. Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices.
Good lord I'm ready for hockey season. I'm also preparing myself for the barrage of worthless information that comes from NFL training camps.
@FH
i would but i royally suck at prank calls, but youre right, somebody needs to do it, i will be watching!
@IHK
well if youre gonna go there.. "hello sean avery? ..you want to rape bugsy?" oh my
@penstone: We don't go there, buddy ... you still can't have him. Plus, I can kick Avery's ass if he comes towards my boy ...
I need the Dark Knight almost as much as the Pens season to begin ...
FH:
It's on.
photojobbing Smizik?
count me in after TDKblog tonight, if I get in.
I asked last night to no response. I will try again. I am getting Dish installed at my house tomorrow and wanted to know if the NHL Network is worth the extra $10 a month it will cost. It is already going to be $80 a month, so what is another $10.
Flyer Hater things are bad no matter what when your watching Charmed no matter what medium you use to view it.
I think it would behoove the staff to create a post dedicated to those who have seen The Dark Knight and need a secluded place for the circle jerk, free from the prying eyes of those that haven't.
@shawnawwwesome
I agree.
Just finished my Atlanta Fire IHA home jersey. Anyone care to see?
Group masturbation is illegal in Utah. Mormons know how to suck the fun out of life.
circle jerk... havent heard that one in a while..
+1 for shawnawwwwwwesome
GET SPELLBOUND!!
Just made the away jersey, too.
@sh0ez
speaking of making jerseys
How's this for custom jersey??
i have no issue with a wide open circle jerk for the dark knight.

@sh0ez
agreed
though i cracked up at the commentor who suggested a trade in order to get an "Upchuk" jersey [Scottie Upshall (PHI) and Johnny Boychuk (BOS)]
Shallboy.
If i could jump in on the next Batman villain convo...
I noticed the word "cat" in there as well and that was my first thought: for Catwoman to be introduced. Would Nolan be predictable enough to have her alter ego as a love interest for BW?
I think my choice for best stroyline would be The Riddler. I think if you look at The Scarecrow and The Joker, both were interesting psychological characters. If given enough time to properly write a story involving The Riddler, the result could be something as close to terrifying as The Joker was.
Mr. Freeze would be stupid.
I think the Penguin would be interesting, but i don't know where Nolan would or could go with it. Probably because i don't write movies...
I don't know if this was posted before or not...
free candy
thank you urban dictionary
i heard if they did the penguin he was going to be a russian arms dealer. mr. freeze has a great back story for nolan to work with. a very sympathetic character because he was trying to save the love of his life and it all went wrong. i agree with you with the riddler though, and that makes him intriguing.
+ of drinking in summer

Dan
Not that Batman himself is truly realistic, but i think that Mr. Freeze would be one of the most unrealistic of the villains. that's the only reason why i said he would be stupid.
i totally agree stokes, which is a shame with his back story. he'd be a great character for them to interpret, but i don't think it will happen. now that i think about it, even catwoman or poison ivy wouldn't be realistic. hot? maybe.
If they do Mr. Freeze you have to use the Govenator again.
can someone send me an hfboards invite to ajjg2466123@yahoo.com
Shirley Temple is more intimidating than Mr. Freeze.
HF Boards makes people at LGP look rational.
Something tells me Facebook has pretty much taken some people from talking here.

@Flyer Hater: Well she was an ambassador for the US to Ghana and then Czechoslovakia during the Velvet Revolution ...
The general lack of posting from certain people since candyblog (which I know isn't going anymore) and after the deal with FH/etc. It just seems since then, no one is talking.
I meant just in general, though. I specified Facebook because Laynie said you all were the other night.
@sh0ez: I have nothing important to say except to complain about Sundin which I already touched on and how bored I am ...
I could entertain myself for days by watching Billy Mays videos on YouTube. My fave. Billy is one crazy bastard.
I saw the ShamWOW! commercial last night, and I have to say that Vince the ShamWOW! guy doesn't have the enthusiasm that Billy does. Billy is a true artist, whereas Vince looks like he's just trying to pay the bills. I'm considering doing a play-by-play comparison. I'm sure the Trib would approve of spending my work day doing that.
I'm still on there btw ... I'm going between tPB and FB ...

I like the fighting from the penalty box & the glass behind the EDM bench being ripped down...that game produced some Penguin penalty records that still stand today:

i used to write and mail hockey cards to the penguins when i was little asking for autographs. some notables i found are:
troy loney, rick tocchet, larry murphy, joe mullen and bryan trottier. nice guys.
then i got greedy and wrote letters to other teams for no particular reason. maybe to get some rookie card value if the players career took off. i do remember saying stuff like, "oh im such a big fan of yours!" not so true.
but i found a brad schlegel, jim hirvnak, mark pederson, alexander semak and brad may (the only one that panned out). FAIL.
@Turk -sweet video. i wish hockey was still that nuts.
@wilsmith -under. depends on how the season is going. but still under.
@Jefe: That's hilarious ... I remember telling my Mom to mail a letter to Kasparaitis that I wrote ... she said that I shouldn't write letters to hockey players because it isn't important ... *frowns*
I think Malkin's waiting for a fight with a Ranger or Flyer ...
Maria & Dr T,
I was at that game. Even before i seen the Youtube clip, as soon as i read the post here about the PIM, i knew it was the Edmonton game.
How the whole thing started was, Kim Clackson, gave Gretzky a love tap, a love tap by Clackson's standards. From looking at the Youtube and reading the comments it must have been a slash.

@Jefe: I think Malkin can fight legit ... he choses not to *laughs* Geno has had Bugsy to protect him, though. I think Geno could thow 'em down nicely if need be. He's gotten angry easily and after his incident with the Rangers, it could happen.
Hockey cards: Do it.
heres three "star" rookie cards i saved that add up to nothing: gilbert dionne, evgeny davydov and kyosti karjalainen.
i wonder if theyll sign their card if i can find them.
@ihk -yeah i think malkin could throw down if he had too. i also think his sneaky fuckin russian ways will get him into fisticuffs once or twice this year. hes always bailed out by someone before anything happens though. even sid will jump in before malkin would be able to square off. if there is a TANK on his line, he will be safe haha.
Just got back from TDKblog. What a movie. Heard a lot about Heath Ledger, but Christian Bale was amazing. Best portrayal of Batman since people started portraying Batman.
@Jefe: Malkin got away with things because of his teammates willingness to protect him. Gonchar was fighting basically during that Rangers game and he wasn't ... Gonchar is wise and must not be messed with in any way, though ...
Exhibit A: Schubert
Exhibit B: Hartnell
Exhibit C: Rosi
Exhibit D: Armstrong Just look at Sarge ... he definitely killed in that commercial *smiles*
Geno might not know how to fight...but, we know he can KICK! [ask Vinny]
Malkin Suspended For Semifinal

@Dr. Turk: Was the last link supposed to be the article again?
props to whoever designed the new interface at the top....badass stuff
@ihk -no further questions, your honor.
sorry about that dupe link
here's the youtube link...
[Power went out here in Greentree for a few minutes]
Sweet fight video. Was it really so intense that girls burst into tears? Wow. And it looks like one of the people who commented on the video is Russ Anderson's daughter.
I have an internal debate going on, and since there's not much else going on in cblog tonight, I wonder if I could get a few opinions. The Pens are playing the Bruins in Boston on New Years Day at 7pm. The Winter Classic is on TV earlier in the afternoon. Should I make the trek out to Boston to see the game, or stay home and watch the Classic, as that's more of a special event that only happens once a year. I know I have forever to decide, but right now I'm leaning on watching the Pens, since I'll be able to watch replays of the Classic later. Thoughts?
Annie, how far do you live from Boston?
About 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.
I was going to say if it's less than 90 min. one-way, go for it.
Suggested itinerary:
Noon - 4 pm Winter Classic
4 pm - 5:30 pm travel to Boston
5:30 - 7 pm dine, drink
7 pm - 10 pm PESO-MANIA!!!
10 pm - 11:30 pm travel from Boston
11:30 - 11:45 wash out beer that Bruins fans poured on your head
11:45 - midnight read '08-'09 Pens Media Guide
Midnight Lights Out
@Annie: Do it.
Look who it is to protect Geno!! Kaspar!! His hair is shorter now than it was then ...
Geno and Kaspar double teaming Vinny? Ahh ... my world is almost complete *smiles*
That sounds like it could work! I'll just have to wait and see when the time comes.
Maybe I could wear one of those umbrella hats to keep the beer off.
@ Sinops -
NHL Network = definitely worth the extra $$. I would've gone through DirecTV myself (that's what we have and we love it), but Dish Network is good, too.
NHL Network is running a little slow right now...they're just broadcasts of games from the past and some of their other programming (Hockey Academy, Top 10 shows, etc). Once the season gets going, NHL On The Fly is as priceless a recap show as NHL2Night used to be. They patch into broadcast feeds of games during the season quite frequently. They supposedly linked into TSN's trade deadline day coverage all day as well, and they did a great job covering the draft.
Annie...
maybe that was her Dad being arrested. [Or the sounds of Vince Lascheid's sweet, sweet organ music brought her to Beatlemania-ish tears]
IMO
Pens vs. X > Any NHL game not involving the Pens.
Tailgate at the Fleet™ or whatev. they're calling it today...then, you can feel as if you were @ WC II! [as a continuance of your NY Eve celebration into NY Day!]
While watching the Edmonton vs Pens Youtube clip, i scanned some other clips.

Francois
Leroux
What a great name
After He retired on September 6th, 2003.On February 2nd, 2006 Leroux would be lured out of retirement by the St. Jean Chiefs. Leroux spent 12 games with the St. Jean Chiefs of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH), which has the unofficial reputation as "the world’s roughest hockey league." He picked up 42 penalty minutes with the Chiefs, a team that had 12 different players register more than 100 penalty minutes.
Annie, i was at that game. Seeing Gretzky for the first time.
Girl burstin into tears=buck bunny
I also remember Kim Clackson who started the whole Edmonton/Pens fight, getting slash/cut with a skate across his wrist. (not that game but another game)
Have to do some research to see if i can find that game.
Midnight Lights Out
m. vanderlasser = soff.
What's with all the Malkin-bashing all of the sudden? The dude gets a contract and it's open season.
Anyway, back on topic. For me, there will ever only be one Harvey Dent, and that is Mister Billy Dee Williams. I will never forgive that franchise from not letting Lando stay on and play Two-Face.
(Tommy Lee Jones didn't redeem himself in my eyes for ruining Batman F'ever until he made that sex vid with Pam Anderson.)
@Sinops
I ordered Directv and not Dish only because NHL network was included in one of the package with Directv.(pkg was $44, i think)
But i guess the question was, Is NHL Network worth the extra $10.
Does a bear shit in the woods?
soff = Southern Oregon Fly Fishers?
I think you have me cornfused with another MvdL.
@shawnawwwesome: I'm not bashing Malkin ... I'm just saying he doesn't fight unless it's in a big scrum ... I love the guy don't get me wrong, but that's the truth. Besides, I want to see him throw 'em down *smiles*
Kaspar and Kovi in that video, Dr. Turk. Good times *tears up*
If I see the Ace Bailey/Eddie Shore commercial one more time...

Answering a question from yesterday, the name of the dek/roller team I used to play for at Bridgeville was called the "Karq Munkiez". Our jerseys were similar to these without the logo (just had the team name on the front and solid black numbers on the back).
We were mostly awful, but we didn't take it anywhere nearly as seriously as some teams did. The leagues were mostly run like shit to begin with. Example: In like our second or third roller game up there in what was supposed to be a novice league, we end up playing this travel tournament team based out of Mt. Washington or the South Side or something. They had a coach, rotated lines in 45-60 second shifts, ran set plays. Half of us couldn't even skate backwards. We were losing by like nine or ten with like five minutes left in the third, got two lucky goals and their coach calls a timeout and starts screaming at them on the bench.
If a team like that wants to play, cool. But what the fuck were they doing in a novice league?
The dek leagues weren't any better. The leagues generally had seven or eight teams in them, but I swear there were like twelve or fifteen guys that all played on like three or four of those teams. We'd see a few of these guys playing for one team one night and then the next game, those same guys would be out there for a different team. It just got to be bullshit.
Most of the guys were cool...they realized we were just out there to have fun. But there were a handful of them who took it wayyyyy too seriously...starting fights, running the goaltenders and shit like that. We even had one of the refs start shit with one of our players while our guy was sitting on the bench. We were questioning a call he made, and the ref comes over, tells our guy to "f off", spits at him and asks him if he wants to go. What kind of crap was that?
After a while, we got tired of wasting our money because it was clear the people running the place didn't give a shit either.
I've heard it's a lot nicer now. It's probably been six or seven years since I've been in there. We left Bridgeville and played out at the YMCA league in Montour, but it wasn't much better. Half of the guys we played against in Bridgeville played out there, too.
As crappy as it was, I'd still love to get a team back together, especially on the ice. I loved playing dek and roller, but there's nothing better than playing on the ice.
@Kaspy
I been texting the dumbotron all season:
"I must break you" -Geno Malkin
but it didn't seem to fire him up. In all fairness, that might be because he couldn't read English, didn't get the reference and was in the locker room everytime it came up on the screen.
But hey, he took on the Russian mafia to even come to Pittsburgh so he's gotta be pretty tough, right?
@shawnawwwesome: Haha!! That's hilarious.
Geno's definitely got some brass ones *laughs*
Watching Batman Tech on the Histroy Channel ... seems interesting ...
ihk, I'm watching that too. I've decided I'm making my own Bat Suit. Who wants to be my Robin?
not even 200 posts today? jeez.
watching that batman thing too. someone just wrote a book on whether or not it was physically possible to be batman. it is. i'm 2 inches too tall, if i put on 25 more pounds though i'm there.
Dan, would it be physically possible for a 5'2" 105 pound blonde girl to be Batman? SAY YES.
Who wants to be my Robin?
JD will!
Looks like WB/S will be shopping for a new Head Coach.
@ ihk: the psychology show on after this one is really good too.
maria
YES
IHK/maria
i am now watching the batman thing too.. because ABC was showing some game show and there was a guy licking and sniffing CDs while blindfolded to guess what they are.. he got 4/5 right and is officially a creepy man
batman>>>>>>>>>>>>>>telepathic CD licking man
Damn you, sir ... *laughs*
Wow ... didn't see him leaving ...
I don't think I'd want to be Batman ... I just want to have his super power ... super wealth!
there was a guy licking and sniffing CDs while blindfolded to guess what they are.
It makes me mad that creepy telepathic CD man is getting paid to do that while I have to actually work. Maybe I shoud start training and challenge him to a CD licking contest.
@penstone: This is weird *laughs*
@brndlynn: Thanks for the heads up! I'll be sure to watch it ...
Batman movie posters [1989-present]
@maria
DO IT. as creepy as he may be, hes got a talent! stop being coffee-copy slave and show the world your talent!!
well maria, i'm 6'5 190, and i don't look good in red, so you can be my robin.
penstone, tomorrow I am marching down to Rossi's office with a stack of CDs and making him hold them up while I sniff and lick them. Might as well make him useful.
Dan, I guess I can settle for Robin. I used to have a pair of Robin pajamas when I was little, an if my memory serves me right I looked rather adorable in them.
and since i'm behind on friends, and bored, and since doc and i just became friends yesterday
me on facebook for whoever i'm not friends with yet
maria, i kid you not, i used to have batman pajamas when i was a little kid. i don't think they'd fit now though, i've grown, um, a lot.
@Dan: If you really wanted to be Batman, you would make them fit *laughs*
Added you on Facebook Dan, because if we're going to be Batman and Robin we should probably be Facebook friends.
And the fact that you had Batman PJs is totally a sign.
tomorrow I am marching down to Rossi's office with a stack of CDs and making him hold them up while I sniff and lick them. Might as well make him useful.
i spit out my taco on that one!!
@ dr turk: wow. i completely forgot how cheesy the batman movies were.
hahahaha, if i had to make them fit, i think i would cover one foot and maybe get the shirt 1/4 over my head. i would look like the hulk.
good call maria, if we are going to be a superhero team, we should be friends.
brnd...
I like the original Keaton-Nicholson Batman...I choose not to remember any of the others up until Batman Begins [which I just saw last week...HA!]
ok, is there a new post? where did everyone go?
I'm still here. Conversation=dead.
So Dan, if we're Batman and Robin, does that make Hossa the Joker?
@ dr t: i was the same Keaton but I wasnt afraid of Nicholson at all (which is how I judge how good a movie is). I completely blocked out Clooney as Batman and I wish I hadnt been reminded. lol
@Dan: Batman stuff is still on the History Channel ... watching it intently ...
@Dr. Turk: I have seen Batman Begins so many times that it's almost reaching Star Wars amount ... my little brother is obsessed with Star Wars and has been for the longest time, so I can walk into the middle of any of the movies basically and say lines ... it's awful ...
So...I did a search for Janne Pesonen on Youtube because I wanted to hear the Na Na Na Na Naaa song (duh) and I found this. I'm somewhere between being amused and creeped out.
i'm still watching too. we could all pretend we are super smart and know what they are talking about.
maria - hossa is two face, i guess. i guess jagr could be the joker, unless you have any personal enemies you want to make the joker. oh wait i have a candidate.......
