damn it. all of these make my eyes wet.

they are all gut wrenching.

Depressionblog ... So sad ... I want to hold you all, Pens ...

eileenover said...

Great now I'm gonna cry again.

coffeytalk said...

I am proud to have seen at least 3 business signs on my way home from work today thanking the Penguins for an amazing season.

Erica said...

WPXI got so many requests for the 'shop of Sykora calling his goal like Babe Ruth that it's on their website (if the link doesn't work, just go to their website, click "Sports" and check out the headlines):

They're all great pics, unfortunately.

KJ said...

:( karate kid part 2 is on and they're showing from the first movie "sweep the leg". makes me miss chat blog already

KJ said...

also, i cannot help but look at the first pic with the blue sleeve and think of the part in airplane when all the reporters are there and one is holding an ice cream cone.

debrisslide said...

I know which one's winning but I voted for Malkin Ice because of the composition. Plus I love Geno and I feel like the more I see his disappointment the happier I'll be to see him play like an animal in the fall.

Pensgirl said...

I didn't vote for it, but in the Hossa stunned pic that's a really touching moment they captured with GR consoling Fleury. It looks so parental or big brotherly or something. In those moments, having a veteran like that is every bit as important as it is during games.

Matt said...

I think the most touching part of the Hossa picture is the veteran Gary Roberts leaning over Fleury telling him something/comforting him.

Kat said...

It's a toss up between Hossa=stunned and the Malkin Locker room pic. I can't decide. They all hurt equally, though.

Matt said...

pensgirl,

you must have posted your comment as I was reading through the comments and commenting. I'm glad you picked that up too.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

I wish Gary Roberts was my older brother ... my older brother's obnoxious. He came home from work and asked "So, who won last night, Carly?" Who's gonna get punched in the face if they speak to me ... Gary Roberts, you can be my big brother (who happens to be only a bit younger than my Mom and Dad)

The stick raise hurts the least, so I voted for it ...

Pensblog Staff said...

wpxi "made its way around the internet."

that's just sad.
fedko's career will be ended.

meecrofilm said...

c'mon c-blog, show some balls. Seeing Malking sitting in the locker like that just makes you want the next season to start so much more..

The stick raise picture isn't even painful, i don't think it should be in there at all. The crosby malkin staal pic from last year was a tough one at least.

...i'm still upset about losing, obviously...

eileenover said...

I think the stick raise is painful actually.

coffeytalk said...

Fedko's career should have been ended forevs ago. My worst memory of him was at a highschool football game making sexually laced comments to us highschool girls. Gross me green I hate that man.

STAN1SH said...

I chose Malkin in the locker, that's my facebook picture. That pic makes me want the Pens to win it all next year!!

debrisslide said...

Looking for a Fleury shirt on eBay right now--why are they selling Winter Classic Fleury shirts if he didn't even play in it? Shit. Fuck eBay.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

I want them to win every year and have motivation w/o pictures ...

I need a few more days ... maybe after the Kenny Chesney concert?

Jimmy Hugs said...

stick raise all the way. Who needs to see the pain to relive it? notthisguy

Joose took my virginity on facebook.

I feel violated. In a good way.

Carroll said...

Just rotate the pics - it will bring fresh pain with each changing pic.

I find the stick raising the easiest to deal with. You don't feel the teams pain as bad because it's not a close up picture. JMO.

Pensgirl said...

Staff, that is so shady on PXI's part. Get 'em.

Or better yet, start watermarking that shit on behalf of all your photoshoppers and partner with KDKA for exclusive upload rights.

FleuryIsBeast said...

where did you find those pics? i tried yahoo but i couldn't find them.
& stick raising is my choice. i wish i could have just picked all of them. =/

smitty said...

I would like to see Fedko shoved down a slidingboard of razor blades into a pool of cat urine

shawnawwwesome said...

I wrote in that octopus-tossing emo pic.

Ryan said...

I second the rotation vote.

Party of Ruutu said...

Sid and Bugsy post-cry and Hossa stunned are too messed up.

My vote is for stick raise.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

You know what helps ease the pain is watching the Pizza Hut Hot Seat and hearing Sykie say the person he would like to meet is Ryan Whitney ... I laugh every time ...

I know Malone's wife is watching him during the whole thing because he says blondes and not brunettes ... well, he hasn't met me yet *evil Therrien laugh*

Ruutu likes Slap Shot and Batman ... good boy. And Ruutu goes "Ehh, I guess pop." My favorite line of his though was Blonde or Brunette "I like them both." Ha ...

Talbot is too funny ... "Spiderman. What's cool about Superman? Well, a lot of things ..."
"Pop, yeah! The crowd cheers when I say pop, so yeah!"

Sid's: Chooses Slap Shot; Stanley Cup or Olympic Gold. "Stanley. That's a tough one. Can I say both? Both." Gotta love Sidney ...

Kat said...

I love those pizza hut videos. I still didn't get any damn pizza.

Jesus, Paul Pierce had to get taken off the court in a wheelchair after tweaking his leg. Wuss...

Pensblog Staff said...

we got them from post-gazette, yahoo, and penguins.com

Lady Jaye said...

The painful pictures are a reminder of what was lost, but I kind of like the 'hope' that the stick raise gives to the fans in a way. It's a salute to what the fans did this season for the team and what we will do in the future... or at least that's how I want to see it :) The stick raise is something I want to see everyday until next year. And in a way it's a reminder of: we're not done yet... still one more prize to get.

lis said...

I would also vote for rotating picks.

Lady Jaye said...

okay, i fourth the rotating picture... because the same one all the time would get boring ;) me = pushover

KJ said...

ihk-i like crosby's face when he has to decide between gold and stanley.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@kj: I know like he was actually having trouble deciding, Silly Sid. I love that he asked if he could choose both ... so funny. It's not like the interviewer actually has both of them ... I love him ...

KJ said...

ihk, i just like how he crinkles his nose like when kids try and choose which candy they want at the store and they get kinda flustered cause they have no clue.

Free Candy Man (formerly nathan) said...

Well, I went ahead and put down my deposit for a partial season plan in Washington this evening. I'm going to get the 11-game plan, and get tickets to the two games against the Pens, and a game each against Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Montreal, Buffalo, the Rangers, and Philadelphia. Anyone have any suggestions for the other 3 opponents? I'm thinking Vancouver if they're going to be paying a visit to Washington this season, but other than that...

debrisslide said...

Sykora's Pizza Hut video is hilarious, my fave by far. He looks enthralled with something offscreen. Or like he just dropped some acid.

Lloyd said...

My vote is for Rotating.

but my vote went to Hossa Stunned

Chubs said...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm goin for Malone and Bing. You need to embrace the pain, own it, make it your own.

*stares at picture of 47 Wide Right* *siiiiiigh*

Maybe the stick raise is a better idea...

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@nathan: According to the new NHL season, you'll be seeing every team ... do Vancouver, maybe all Canadian teams w/ Flames and Maple Leafs?

@debrisslide: He was definitely on something during the production of that video ... Why did he say Whitney? It must be an inside joke for the team ...

slush said...

i love the sykora one.

we put money down on half season pens. but there were 800 people in front of us. no idea when seats will come up.

debrisslide said...

Well, who wouldn't want to meet Ryan Whitney?

marq said...

i think one of the best things about malkin, despite the language barrier that he has done well to overcome, is that he is so genuine with his emotions. he lights up like the fourth of july when he scores a big one and it's painted all over him when he is he's disappointed. watching someone so vividly express what they're feeling makes watching our pens so much more personable (not saying its the only thing).

that expressive quality makes the locker room pic of him so potent. a broken man so close to his ultimate goal as a microcosm for the rest of the team.

my 2 cents. rotating pics would be cool too. but im not crosby so i can't pick both.

RaCHeLeYoS said...

i voted for stickraise. i don't want to see depressing pics throughout the summer lol.

wilsmith said...

Has any word come out about guys being injured yet?

I saw the video of someone playing with a broken foot, just curious as to what everyone was playing with. Always makes for a great story.

Carroll said...

ihk -I love Sids responce to that question too. How do you pic between your dream and representing your country. I would want both also. Especially seeing he is a proud Canadian who wants to be asked to represent us in Vancouver.

kj- I also completely love the nose crinkle he does.

RaCHeLeYoS said...

i heard sykora was playing with a separated shoulder..

eileenover said...

I like when Scuds says pop is the most annoying word in the world. He's wrong of course, but it's funny.

Carroll said...

wilsmith - the only thing I've heard that was confirmed was Sid
1. groin pull during this series
2. rib injury from last series.

Malkin - flu first 2 games of this series. I'm assuming there is more but nothing I've heard that's been confirmed yet.

Someone has a broken foot - have not heard who.

debrisslide said...

@marq - And this is mostly why Malkin is my favorite Penguin. Not to mention badassery all around.

The other thing about those Pizza Hut videos is that Malone says soda. He's such a Midwesterner, regardless of where he was born. I know people in the Pittsburgh metro area who will YELL AT YOU for saying soda. We're supposed to say soda at my job because "pop" is "too regional" and I got an earful from a biker dude because of it.

Carroll said...

sykora - had his left hand bandaged last game (possible broken finger and hurt wrist).

coffeytalk said...

locker room rumor says malkin has been playing with 2 broken ribs.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@wilsmith: I have heard nothing but rumors ... the Crosby one sound realistic about him having injured ribs and a groin issue ... I think Staal has had a broken foot for a while ...

@kj: The crinkly nose is adorbale *hugs* Seriously, I have to stop that ... I give like 5 hugs a year now, I'm going on a huge hugfest ...

@racheleyos: I love your picture ... oh, and Sykie has had hurt fingers since I don't know how long ... look at his hand when he takes off his glove , I'm pretty sure I saw a brace or something on his wrist and a few fingers taped.

@carroll: That's why people who don't like Crosby piss me off ... he doesn't want the fame, he loves the sport and his country. Good kid.

RaCHeLeYoS said...

I also hard that Sid may redo his contract to allow more money under the salary cap to spend on the players....

frigginawesomeblog.

eileenover said...

I love Sid.

RaCHeLeYoS said...

Kat said...

All my roommates are from Chicago so when I have to hear the word "Pop" all the time, it rips through my eardrums.

Looks like I'm finally getting that pizza...

wilsmith said...

racheleyos did you really hear that or are you teasing us?

Pensgirl said...

Rachele, I'm 99.9% certain that the CBA prohibits the restructuring of contracts.

Staal's the frontrunner for broken foot, for sure.

Marq, you are so right about Geno. He wears his heart on his sleeve, that one.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@carroll: You beat me to it ... if I wasn't paying attention to other things ...

@racheleyos: I knew there was a reason why people called him The Saint, but that would be good in certain repects and others not so much ... you can't pay your other players more than the captain who is considered the best hockey player in the world ...

Lady Jaye said...

Okay, I'm being dumb, where do you find the Pizza Hut videos? I never saw the Sykora one.

eileenover said...

Just look in the archives on Pens TV.

Pensgirl said...

Lady Jaye, they're on Pens TV linked on the official page. They're aweeeeessoooome.

Lady Jaye said...

I'm lame, I never actually have looked at Pens TV before. What kind of fan AM I? *feels shame*

wilsmith said...

I wish there were a Pizza Hut next to my house.

I remember the day I ordered a P'zone and they told me they dont sell them anymore. I cried for hours.

Carroll said...

debrisslide said...

Yeah, the CBA says no to renegotiation, I believe.

Hip said...

I've said it before, as much as losing sucks, what really gets me is that this is the last time that group will ever be together as a team. That's just the way it goes in the current NHL. So the stick salute pic kills because the last thing this group should have been able to do with each other is hoist the Cup. These guys would have died out there for each other. A rousing ovation by Mellon is awesome, but it would have been nicer with some hardware.

In terms of just sheer, bitter defeat though, it's Malkin locker room all the way.

eileenover said...

No more P'zones?! Damnit.

Carroll said...

ihk - you were either busy drooling or playing around on facebook now that it is working for you.

You've had a rough day. :(

People saying trade Bugsy/nofacebook/dealing with the loss, etc, etc.

debrisslide said...

@hip - Next year can be good too--we will probably lose some guys but we might get some great ones too. With free agency, anything can happen.

Jawsh said...

Can we have depressionblog pics til july, then stick raise from there on?

Pensgirl said...

Yeah, nothing doing on the contract:

"Will Clubs be able to renegotiate contracts with players?

No. Player contracts will not be renegotiated (upward or downward) during their term. Extensions may be negotiated but only in the final year of the contract and only if such extension is for an amount that can be accommodated in a Club's upper limit for the current year or as computed for future years."

Since it's the average salary that impacts the cap, shuffling around the individual years without changing the full salary doesn't do anything. And since you can't change the full salary, there's no way to make more cap room.

What I do not doubt for one second is that it's Sid's wish and desire to keep this team together to go for it again. But all he can really do about it is try to persuade them to do the same thing he did.

Lady Jaye said...

I should be sleeping, but i find myself refreshing cblog instead.

I finally watched the sykora vid. I think that is my favorite of all of them at the moment. He cracks me up.

Is he signed for one more year? I still need to buy my Sykora number tshirt. (Sykora actually used to be my screen name because I thought it was a cool name... and i never wanted to admit i liked the player since he was on the enemy team hehe... almost named my first daughter Sykora actually.)

RaCHeLeYoS said...

I don't know about the Sid recontracting thing, my "grandpa" was talking about it to me tonight. So maybe it was just a rumor. Don't know where he heard it from.

Jeff Spicoli said...

rotate em dudes

eileenover said...

lady jaye Sykora will be here next year, thank goodness.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@carroll: It's not working again ... *whimpers* This day is long, I have been trying to get it to work again that's why I was distracted ... and I commented over @ BigK's blog ...

I wish people wouldn't say that about Bugsy it hurts me so much ... especially after he got hit in the face and a few plays for him later trying blocking a shot with his face ... the man plays balls-on-the-walls, people. And he took over the spot from Kaspar ... that's another sore spot ...

@Jeff Spicoli: Where have you been?

I saw sinops posted the other night ... where did all of c-blog go?

Lady Jaye said...

eileenover > thanks. I thought he was but with all the names tossed around, I get forgetful who is here for how long.

i chose the malkin picture, on the bench. you can just see the devastation all over him. as much as i love the stick raising one, it's not gonna remind us of what we lost, and what we need to gain next season.

also, i heard first two games malkin had a very "violent flu", sykora had a shoulder injury, and malkin also had an upper body injury

okay lady jaye cannot outlast you crazy late nighters :) Good night all. Talk to y'all tomorrow I'm sure.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@Jeff Spicoli: Ight ... just making sure our c-bloggers didn't die ... *laughs*

Carroll said...

ihk - I have had no problems with facebook today and I have been on it when not on here. Which has been all day. tPB has taken over all facets of Gore. I now have 29 tPB friends on facebook, I hope I have accepted everyone so far.

I really need to get work done sometime... maybe next week. I need to be more disciplined when it comes to work but hockey has been my priority lately. I need to have a set schedule enforced by someone else. Now I'm talking crazy!! Flexible hours is why I do my job.

Carroll said...

ihk - ask for someone else and see if they appear! Oh wait, I do not want to encourage you even more.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@carroll: What's that suppose to mean? *laughs* Everyone but me shows up on Facebook... and I'm giving up on that today ...

Joose said...

In regards to the Hot Seat talk, Ruutu looks extremely, extremely, extremely, extremely, extremely good looking, and that is all I am going to say about that.

In regards to the pictures, I think the stick raise is the best and the most gut-wrenching. When I saw it, I almost lost it for about a second and recomposed myself. The fans are saluting their team, and the team members are saluting their fans. It's kind of a, "Shit, I wish I could have been there" hurt, too.

TheNWChica said...

I leave for a few hours....my goodness!

And I voted for raised sticks but rotating would be good; and even better would be rotating with some happy shots from the season too.

Jawsh said...

Does anyone know about the contract status for Jim Duggan?

eileenover said...

I agree chica. I don't just want to feel bad about not winning the Cup. This team achieved so much this year other than that.

Colin said...

I voted for the stick raise because it is the whole team. Each one has their painful element but you can just see that the team wants to thank the fans, but they are just crushed.

@ ihk -

Your list of soccer plays is unreal. No Clint Dempsey on the US players list?

Colin said...

@ ihk -

I meant unreal is a good way too.

TheNWChica said...

Oh and I stopped to get some groceries tonight and over in the toy department, there were some wrestling action figures. Didn't see a Hacksaw, but I might go back this weekend and look harder. :P

Colin said...

Oh, and I would pay a lot of money to hear what GR to said to MAF in that pic.

Each pic is so crushing in a different ways.

TheNWChica said...

So did I miss it, or was there a Claim a Pen exercise earlier? I think we all know who I would like to claim if we are. And if not him, maybe LeGame.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@colin: I knew I would forget people ... yeah, he's not my favorite but I like him. I like Wolffe but he isn't playing right now but Convey is second ... I just love his intensity ...

@chica: Are you going to pull a Bugsy and have him in your workplace? (going back to the LeClair action figure)

eileenover said...

We're inspecting their tattoos/possible tattoos chica. But I'm inspecting Jordan Staal just for fun. ;)

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@chica: After we talked about going in line for Croz we went into inspection mode ... gotta make sure they are fit to play next year ... *smiles*

TheNWChica said...

Okay....well I'm still gonna inspect Maxie and tell LeGame it's a rookie thing. ;)

And yeah! I have some space on my laptop docking station for it. Or I'll have him here at home with my Mariner and Silvertip bobbleheads for luck.

dazzy said...

injuryblog....

So far the only confirmed ones would be Crosby's ribs/groin and Malkin's flu bug.

As for the broken foot, would that not be Max? Broken feet don't heal in a few weeks...

Colin said...

@ ihk -

We will have to keep in touch over the EUROs. I think I have decided that I am going to root for Italy (I love Francesco Totti as well even though he isn't playing).

Kat said...

@chica, yeah we had a massive claim fest. I'm getting first crack at LeGame, but I'm willing to share.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@dazzy: Didn't think about that ... oops, forgot about that actually. Sorry, Mad Max! Chica will make sure everything's better ...

@chica: As long as you keep away from Bugsy and Free Candy ... Bugsy's a moral dilemna but Free Candy is just fine ...

@colin: yes! Now if I get Stilly to go with not France, my day will not be a total loss ...

KJ said...

colin-gary said "even though we lost, i'll release your family cause you played good kid."

dazzy said...

@IHK
I know, I'd forgotten about it too until Sid mentioned in his tsn 1 on 1 that someone had a broken foot, and then I went, 'Oh yeah! Maxie's a beast!'

As for claimsblog, I was going to be all hopping in line for Cros, but then I saw that he'd shaved all but that nasty ass moustache, and now I feel faintly ill. Who told him that was a good look for him? Yeeeuch.

TheNWChica said...

I would leave Bugsy alone...If they're married and esp. with tots, they're look and drool but no touch.

And if LeGame is claimed and no one else wants Maxie, I'll be happy to take care of him. I've had a broken foot, and yeah; they don't just heal as quickly as his supposedly did.

debrisslide said...

@chica - I'm pretty sure there's an entire crew gearing up to inspect Malkin. Join the party.

Colin said...

'staches = awesome

letsgopsu said...

I wish this whole team could stay together for like 10 more seasons. Seriously. I don't want anybody to leave in free agency. But, I know it will happen. The only way this team is staying together is in one of Shero's wet dreams. In fact, the fact that we will not have the same exact team next season that we did this season makes me more sad than losing last night did.

I'm gonna miss you Hossa (and possibly Malone and/or Orpik).

debrisslide said...

@colin - Depends on the mustache. My question to guys about their facial hair is always "Can you grow the bridge?" (As in, the strip between the mustache and the beard below the mouth.) If they can't, they should probably stay away.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@dazzy: I told him to keep it so he could grow an actual mustache ... like I said in the last post: Sid's stache has grown on me, too bad it still hasn't grown on him ... I kinda like it now, but I can't explain why ...

@chica: That's what I said in the last post. Because Pensgirl was wondering why I picked Free Candy instead of Bugsy ...

BTW: I'm second in line for Crosby inspection still ...

dazzy said...

@IHK
Oh god, noooooooooooooo! It's terrible. I'm not a *huge* fan of facial hair in the first place, but I'm okay with it if they grow it well.

Sid needs to have it explained to him that if it looks like you just have dirt on your face, you should just not try. If it was a real stache, I'd probably be okay with it. As it is, he looks like a 15 year old who's proud of his three facial hairs.

Colin said...

@ debrisslide -

If you are going to do a moustache it must be done right. I agree with you assessment. But honestly, they just lost in the SCF, why not say f it I am shaving all but the 'stache. I bet Sid has a sweet sense of humor. When I see this pic I die.

I really like Free Candy too...esp. when his hair gets all long and curly.

Oh, and I'm not sure if Joose is still around, but I found a picture of Jakke she might like and may have seen. It's from the Olympics in Turin.

Colin said...

Oh and someone mentioned the MAF Winter Classic jerseys...how about the people that rock Hossa winter classic shirts? That just doesn't make sense.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@colin: I love that picture ... I laughed during the entire interview ...

@dazzy: Fan of facial hair but wasn't of his. Then, I don't know something happened over the course of playoffs and I began to like it. I would love to see actual facial hair on him, and I've got time ...

@michelle: What an ass that writer is ... when I become a journalist, I'm gonna wipe the floor w/ them and actually write sensible articles. When has Tiger said anything interesting? Too bad he didn't understand HCMT's point of doing that ... get a grip, dick ...

eileenover said...

@Michelle

I really wish that son of a bitch had a comments section.

debrisslide said...

@colin - You're right. . .it totally isn't my place to tell a man what to do with the manliness on his face. Those pictures are goofy as hell. I fuggin' hate baseball caps but those ones look pretty sweet.

I couldn't get through that whole article. As soon as it bashed Buries It, I stopped reading.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@letsgopsu: Lucky ... I wanted to vomit ... seriously, who pays these kinds of people?

debrisslide said...

From michelle's link:
Either through coaching, or lack of personality, Crosby couldn't, or wouldn't muster up one entertaining or thought-provoking response to a question the entire series. Sid The Kidder he isn't. His answers were always terse and guarded and as vanilla as ice cream.

You have to play the straight man if you're going to be captain at age 20. If he didn't tell it like it is he wouldn't be where he is today. The NHL won't be marketed to the world at large with ass-kissing, either.

What an asshat.

michelle said...

He doesn't have a comment section because he knows what it would say and he knows that he would be hammered into the floor.

What a freaking jerkface.

I don't know exactly what everybody is claiming but I haven't seen Hall under this thread and he had the nicest playoff beard of all if you ask me. Also Whitney - let's just say I bet he is good at the sex.

P.S. Crosby's mustache is clearly a joke. There is no way he thinks that looks good. I'm actually impressed that #1 he can joke so soon after losing the cup, and #2 he is confident enought to look like an idiot in an interview. He rocks. Clearly I would have claimed him if not for the line up of every woman with a pulse on this blog.

@eileen: Does he get dibs if he's married though? I mean, I obviously am not married and you aren't (and penguin_tugger, I'm not sure about your martial status) but he's happily married, so could we take Whit off his hands? *betrayalblog*

@penguin_tugger: HCMT is open for business ... *smiles* Sorry ...

debrisslide said...

Sorry, I claimed Hall. Somewhere. But I'm willing to share, haha.

michelle said...

@penguin_tugger
agreed about Sid
I don't think Gonchar's wife would appreciate anyone inspecting him, haha
and I'm not going to risk my life to get to Ruutu when joose is on the loose :)

Hmmmmmmm

eileenover said...

You can have Kris Beech penguin tugger!

justincredibleh said...

i voted for the stick raising picture, but i feel like it just represents a good season....it doesn't show us the pain we're actually feeling and doesn't inspire us to work harder next year.

eileenover said...

@ihk

Good point. I'd feel bad not asking him first though. If he doesn't want him we can share him.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@eileen: This was gonna be my post:

Any Kris Beech takers?
*laughs* *gets garbage thrown at me*
Sorry it was a joke ...

BGL is single, ain't he?

Thanks for helping kill my day *jk*

I missed this place all day, I've been playing catch up since about 10:00 pm...joose's adventures in pizza baking was huge. And IHK, don't mind adrienne, she's been here ever since I can remember, and she reminds me of that South Park bus driver lady in her posts. I remember she wanted to see a man get hit by a car just because he had the gall to wear a Steelers jersey to a game. She's a wacko.

I liked the suggestion of a c-blog day at a park also, it seems a lot less expensive and a better environment for jobbing and the like...

The evening is moist (or perhaps sultry), and it's day one without hockey.

And I'd like to see a rotation of the Malone/Crosby locker room pic and Geno's locker room pic.

Jonny V said...

And colin, sweet link to the hats website. Good stuff.

And Dan i think it was, thanks for the link to the House O' Hockey. I shot them an email about getting my 1977 Pens jersey customized with Bugsy's dad's #12.

Kat said...

Ew Beech? What about the USS Hal Gill, tugger?

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@jonny v: Any explanation helps soothe my pain right now. Thank you ... I feel like Jagr right now ... I probably shouldn't have brought him up, though ...

@eileen: Yeah, I would feel bad too ...

*mumbles so people can't hear me "I'll share Free Candy"*

@Kat: He's married.

eileenover said...

Yeah BGL! He's such a sweetheart.

michelle said...

I didn't want to see the post-Sens pics from last year because being dejected over a loss never seemed to encourage much.
But if we had the pic of Malkin with the Cup image, see, that sort of reminds people, hey, we were on the grandest stage of hockey last season.
And that is why I cannot vote for sadpicsblog.

Kat said...

@ihk, is he? oops. Hmm, then tugger's best bet is probably BGL then.

jefe penguino said...

im prepared for a dark summer of no pens hockey.

but please dont take away my rex gildo ringtone.

hoooooooosssssssssssssa!

TheNWChica said...

I love BGL....he's a big chocolate teddy bear who loves kids and has a killer accent.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

I need a drink ... *slams head against desk* I think Free Candy needs to bring over some actual free candy to bring me comfort and Bugsy should just ... wait, I have Bugsy pictures ... I'm gonna look at his tats ...

rex gildo is the fucking man. when i play poker online, i throw on some rex and get amazing hands. never fails.

The Post-Gazette front page has a cute pic of a Staal billboard with a young fan. Pretty good article too.

Jonny V said...

And I used "cute" as an adjective in the most manly way...

yeah...

Kat said...

Think they'll still use the Fiesta Mexicana references in the recaps if Hossa plays for an opposing team?

Ack, sorry, downerblog.

michelle said...

from that article:

Eventually, a Penguins attendant stood in front of him, gently waving TV cameras away as Malone began to weep quietly, understanding that as a free agent, this had likely been his last game as a Penguin, the same team his father, Greg, had played for, the team for which his father had also worn No. 12.

guh

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@jonny v: Who are we to judge? I can list out the martial status of the team ... who has the bigger problem? *laughs*

@michelle: I'm officially crying right now ... why did they have to say those things?

"Sitting beside Crosby in the dressing room was teammate Ryan Malone, his face cut and broken from the heated competition of this Cup final. As Crosby spoke, Malone sat in full uniform, staring blankly at the label of an energy drink container.

When Crosby finished speaking, Malone didn't move. Eventually, a Penguins attendant stood in front of him, gently waving TV cameras away as Malone began to weep quietly, understanding that as a free agent, this had likely been his last game as a Penguin, the same team his father, Greg, had played for, the team for which his father had also worn No. 12."

@ihk
Yeah I'm going to bed now. I sleep when I'm depressed. If you read in the PG about a girl who died from depression in her sleep, you'll know it was me.

TheNWChica said...

Poor Bugsy.... *hugs him*

debrisslide said...

@jonny - HOLY SHIT THAT PICTURE IS ADORABLE. "Cute" in this instance is perfectly acceptable, regardless of how manly you wanna be.

The article on young fans:
"We love hockey and we love the Penguins," she said. "Everything. The players are hot. I even love the fighting."

I can't disagree with her (*insert shame over tattooinspectionblog*) but y'know. . .I think if I were being interviewed I'd mention the badass determination that it takes to play hockey and how I admire the players as actual people. God, people my age piss me off. So do most girls.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@debrisslide: I was thinking the same thing ...

@michelle: You need a hug ... *hugs* Free hugs for all ...

Would it be crazy if I wrote a letter to him, pleading him not to leave? I don't know what I'd do w/o him on the team. I mean, he kinda replaced Kaspar, but not fully ... Bugsy is different and I love him in different ways ... I actually am starting to like him more than Kaspar, which hurts. I think I going insane right now. I can't deal with this loss and possibly Bugsy loss ... he means so much ...

Today just sucks ...

debrisslide said...

That sentence about Bugsy in the other article was ridiculously terrible. I would really love to keep Malone, seriously. He deserves anything that he could ever want after what he went through these past few months, and especially in the last week or so. Stupid media starting the fanfare and exploiting a man's emotions like that. Sheesh.

debrisslide said...

@ihk - I wouldn't so much beg him to stay as thank him for being a Penguin and express my utmost desire that he's able to stick around. I've never sent any kind of "fan mail" before though, haha.

TheNWChica said...

*sends hugs to everyone still up*

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@debrisslide: Neither have I, but desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

I might as well send one to the entire team, then ... *laughs* I'm such a loser ...

eileenover said...

That article is so sad. =(
I wish there was someway to keep them all. I know I'm going to end up crying when I find out who is gone. I'm going to bed.

debrisslide said...

This article pretty much just came up for those of you who are interested.

TheNWChica said...

You're not sad Kaspar....I left messages and sent pokes on Facebook to the boys on my friends list all playoffs. That's sorta dorky, but hopefully they appreciated it.

Kat said...

I sent one fan letter my entire life and it was when I was like 11 or 12 and it was to the guy that played Adam Banks in The Mighty Ducks.

@ihk, do it.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

I hate me today ... way too emotional right now ...

@chica: I just feel really stupid for getting this emotional over a hockey player that I have only known through watching him play, interviews, my friend who has met him, and my insider who knows him personally.

@debrisslide: What are you linking? I got a blank page ...

TheNWChica said...

Dude...It's not stupid. I have met my beloved Trevor Linden ONE time in the 20 years I have been his fan; but that didn't stop me from bawling like a big fat girl at the last game of the season, which also might be his last in the league.

We don't have to know these guys to have feelings for them.

Hey...What would Lord Gary do in your shoes?

debrisslide said...

Try this one?

It has to do with contracts.

Dan said...

malone and bing, hands down. and i decided at the bar tonight i will from here on out refer to malone as captain pittsburgh.

debrisslide said...

If anyone's read the article or knows all that shit already--the worst for me are obviously Free Candy and Malone. They're my favorites to come back but apparently not the most likely.

Nick Saia (usa) said...

I carefully folded all my jerseys, shirts, banners, pennants, posters, flags etc. and put them in a drawer today.

It was sad, and I realized I needed a #12 Ryan Malone jersey.

Its good to hear that Spicoli is still well.... What new jersey would you like to wear after this year?

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@chica: Thanks for the pick me up ... I'll write a letter but submit it to c-blog for editing. I should probably do AP English stuff but I need to do this ...

@kat: Did you get a response?

@debrisslide: I should have known ... evil contracts ... they always kill me ... or at least they did w/ Kaspar ...

Jeff Spicoli said...

Saia- Dude-

I would totally wear a Talbot Jersey with 19:25 on the back.

Kat said...

@ihk, no I never got a response, but I did find out that he's now the bartender at this pretty cool hotspot in Hollywood. I haven't seen him there yet though. lol.

Dan said...

johnny v - no problem.

i shouldn't have scrolled through this. seeing that about captain pittsburgh is killing me. he will be back, i swear to god. i can sense it.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@kat: Ha, you should try to find him ... *laughs* How awkward would that be for him, though ... yeah, I was in a movie and now I'm selling you a beer ... *laughs* It's more fun when other people are in pain ...

@dan: I hope so ...

debrisslide said...

Hey, check out prospect defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, age 19:
Look at the eyes. Who does he remind you of?

Just trying to lighten the mood. Carry on.

I Have Kasparaitis said...

@debrisslide: I wonder if him and Staal are buddies ... wow, intense stare, buddy ...

not even getting excited for pearl jam in a few weeks, not a good sign. time to try to go to bed. this isn't getting any easier.....
