I learned PHP and PHPNuke crap through working on a gaming community website. Mostly I'm a Photoshop geek. Google is my best friend for computer problems if I can't figure it out myself. My major is GIS (Geographic Information Science) which is pretty computer based. I'm no good with C++ or any of that, though. Meh.

I heard Roberts make a couple of other comments today about him realizing that "this might be it" or something to that effect. But you could tell by the tone of his voice that this is a man who desperately wants to go out with another Stanley Cup in tow.

Got into this discussion at work the other day with one of the other Pens diehards...
If Gary Roberts decides to hang up the skates after this season, he will have been a Penguin for about a little more than one and a quarter seasons. Call it a season and a half when you factor in all the postseason games.
Other than Roberts, has there ever been an athlete in Pittsburgh who became a bigger fan favorite/cult hero despite being here for such a relatively short time?
I can't think of anyone. Other guys became fan favorites just as quickly, but most of them stuck around longer than Roberts probably will.

Stoosh, I think Bob Boughner, Steve McKenna, and Johan Hedberg all added up probably are about 1/8th as popular as Mr. Roberts.
chubs, as bad as the whole experience was, I think the whole will-they-stay-or-will-they-go situation really brought about this love affair. When you realize how close they were to going, it makes you appreciate this whole run that much more. About 15 months ago, we were all worrying that we may just have to be cheering this team while playing in Fleury29land. But they're here. They're ours.

@ stoosh: Those same things have crossed my mind, too. It's amazing how popular he has become in such a short amount of time. I can see why he would be overwhelmed or embarrassed. It would be sad to see him go, but he has made this past season and a half one hell of an amazing end to a career, especially with the cult status he has gained. I think, if anything, this extreme popularity is a great way for him to go out. That would be a great way to end a career. A Stanley Cup 19 years after his first, and popularity that he's never had before. What's better than that?
As for that Photoshop that pissed me off earlier, it was a widescreen background for my TV as a second monitor for my computer. It's my own WWGRD background featuring pictures and the drawing that Dave P. made a while back in tPB. I also made a smaller version of it for regular resolution monitors.

Missed part of 1993-94 season with broken right thumb, an injury suffered when he blocked Dave Ellett's slapshot with the palm of his glove while killing a penalty in Calgary's March 20, 1994, game at Toronto. Although Roberts broke the thumb in seven places, he missed only one game before playing in Calgary's March 26, 1994, game vs. Pittsburgh. He scored two goals in that game

I have a story for you.
I went down to the Cal PA Dairy Queen today to get me and the girl some dinner and was waiting for my order. In walks a lady with a jacket on that was only partly open. I look at the shirt underneath and it;s that Penguins shirt that you posted in last night's cblog! I was stunned.

Well I've known him since we were 12 and her when she met him, so I was a little more concerned with him when I thought of it.
We've been looking forward to this for weeks, it should be awesome.
But knowing him, her present is having him out of the house and drunk with me instead of yelling and jumping up and down in the living room.
so, i've been out of the loop *on tPB* for a couple of days....hearing ruu saying "free candy" gave me a major chubby.....wow
i've been killing the trout, the beers, and the womenfolk....and still seeing that made me more excited than everything else i've done in the past week
