how they asked Brennan to come on their show to talk about the series.
Apparently, there is a professional-courtesy thing in the world of journalism
where most journalists are more than happy to jump on a local radio station.

told them that they would have to pay Brennan for him to make an appearance.

SOOSKA - Me and a good friend of mine (Spoon from the LGP.com board) did a Sunday evening curling league down at the Neville Island ice arena here in Pittsburgh last year. It's an absolute blast. We're waiting for them to open up a Saturday night one because all of the regularly scheduled ones down there conflict with our schedules.
I absolutely loved it.

Before we praise Mariotti, he did also say that San Jose was the team to beat because they are on an 18-0-2 streak. Um, Jay, if you did your research like a high paid journalist should do, you would have noted the Sharks have lost their last 2 games.
All of the talking heads from ATH and PTI used the "laugh while discussing hockey to show that it's cool to not know anything about hockey since it's not cool to like hockey since it's not on ESPN and why would we promote any sport not owned by ESPN?"

I'm not a big fan of curling, but I was SOOOOOOO excited when the Canadian men's team won in Torino. Amazing game... Russ Howard - the 'old' guy on the team and one of the best curlers in history - now lives in my hometown, and one of the girls I watched the closing ceremonies with is best friends with Howard's daughter. Definitely a cool experience.

I ordered NHL Center Ice Online tonight, and the Pens game was blacked out, so I watched it on the link provided by flyerhater (thanks!). Anyways, I called NHL Center Ice Online to get a refund a few minutes ago, and I guess there was a system crash for the games they were actually showing, so they gave me a refund no questions asked. FLYER HATER - I didn't think it was out of line at all. I think Sooska said pretty much the same with her comments. I definitely thought it was funny, mostly because if it actually happened, Roberts would just punch Heatley in his gap-toothed head and take the wheel himself. Why? Because Roberts isn't a Speed Racer-wannabe punk.

FYI: Roberts penalities at the end with 12 seconds left changed to 2 for roughing, 2 for boarding, 2 for unsportsmanlike and a 10 minute misconduct instead of the "refusal to play" penalty.

Thoughts, dudes...
1. Now THAT'S how you start a playoff series.
2. Watching the post-game stuff on FSN right now, and one very comforting thought is that this Pens team seems to be taking this in stride. No one's too high or too full of themselves. As someone said above about Malkin's goal, they're all business right now. Incredibly focused.
3. They just did an interview with Orpik, and I think Orp really might have just killed a man before the interview. Whenever he hangs up the skates, he'll definitely have a job when someone decides to remake "The Shining".
4. I counted four or five asshats who called Madden's show today and not just debated the decision to play Roberts, but talked about it as if Therrien was dressing Frankie Leroux or something. Do people not pay attention? Do people not realize that Shero specifically brought Roberts back FOR THE PLAYOFFS? Roberts could've sat all fucking year for all I care. You signed him primarily FOR THE PLAYOFFS. Thank God Roberts makes people pay for their stupidity.
5. This is the Ottawa police, putting out an all-points bulletin for Wade Redden. In addition, patrols are asked to keep an eye out for Wade Redden's game and Wade Redden's heart, because he's likely missing both right now as well. While you're at it, put out an alert for Schubert's balls, which he apparently didn't start to find until Roberts was being taken off the ice by the refs and there were four people between Roberts and himself.
6. I can't even begin to imagine what the first few minutes of Game Two are going to be like, between Crosby jawing with Heatley and then Roberts pulling a John Wensick and challenging the entire Sens team at the end of the game.
7. Caufield made a good point on the postgame...this Pens team is playing a very, very solid team game right now. This isn't a team relying on its superstars to win. So imagine what happens when Sid and Hossa really get going.
8. Gerber or Emery for Game Two?
I cannot WAIT until Friday. Can't wait.
