Fantastic fight just now between Max Talbot and Max Lapierre. Lapierre was the prick who jobbed Sid a few times last year. Pretty even fight...Lapierre landed more punches, but Talbot got some really solid shots in.

PittHockey said...

lapierre ended up with a game misconduct also, Pens need to capitalize on that and put the game away

chris e said...

Let's do this shit!!

BlacknGold66 said...

Was worried about the Staff for a minute there.

Glad to see we're all back on track.

LET'S GO PENS!!!

Stoosh said...

Sabres actually. checkout a real website letsgosabres.com

PittHockey said...

You better be careful you don't lose that website to free agency.

Flyer Hater said...

This will be the most intense third period of the year, this game has flew by.

Anonymous said...

lol @anon....

BlacknGold66 said...

Malone is 2 for 2 when he loses his right glove in front of the net.

Then he and Potash hug.

How could you not love (or despise if you're not a Pens fan) this team??

Flyer Hater said...

LOL, Potash and Malone with the hug!

Go Habs go! Lapierre and Talbot have a long history... They us to play agains each other in the LHJMQ. Things did not worked out pretty well. And by the stoosh, Crosby did the same thing to Lapierre in the junior..

good one, is it too harsh to joke that you better hope Crosby doesnt get Hodgkin's disease, and Malkin to the Capitals for a bag of pucks?

PittHockey said...

no, because hoping for batshit insanity isn't harsh at all.

WTF is Sabu in net? Is this not an important game?

PittHockey said...

Malkin!!!!

Stoosh said...

ANON @ 9:13 PM -

I'm not afraid to admit that your team scares the crap out of me. The Habs are the one team in don't the Pens to have to play in the post-season.

And I'm sure Crosby jobbed Lapierre in juniors. They talked about that last year. Crosby's got that edge to his game, as does Lapierre. Nothing wrong about that for either guy. It's Lapierre's job to be a prick on the ice.

Pensblog Staff said...

chant Malkin's name now montreal..

Mike Georger said...

marioesque play from geno there. theres a distinct possibility we have the two best players in the league

Mike Georger said...

my roommate (huge fan) had to go to carlisle for something tonight and is missing the game, last night i joked it would be the best game of the year and end 6-5 because he was missing it. all because he missed the 5-4 game against jersey 2/16/07 for his birthday dinner, which imo was the best game of the season. could be looking at a repeat, b/c this has been one of the most exciting games of the year
LOVES IT

Chuck said...

Anonymous 8:54, how long did it take you to come up with that? I'm guessing at least 40 games. [Yawn] Go back to the lemon party where you belong.

Dr. Turkleton said...

talbot & kennedy on ice together = awesome

obscure/irrelevant stat of the night: BGL needs 2 more penalty minutes to reach 1000

hope he gets it on Sat. by pounding Neil or Commodore44-64 or McGrattan

kmlovespens said...

Jeebus!!!!!! Malkin is money!! Seriously, who didn't say to themselves, (when he went to the box and the crowd was chanting his name) Malkin is gonna bury one when he gets out? He is playing at such a level that when he gets the puck on a breakaway like that there is NO DOUBT that he is putting it in the net. Beautiful feeling.

Anonymous said...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

christina said...

honestly, this team kicks major ass.

this gets my vote for best game of the year. and i would have said the same thing if we had lost...

WOOOOOO!!!!! yeah Pens!!!

Mike Georger said...

we have 5 points from the season series to their 4 right? we are two up on wins but if that ends up tied we have the second tiebreaker. little things like that are going to be huge this year i bet

MASSIVE win in spite of sabourin. gtfo dany, sorryboutit

Pensblog Staff said...

woooooooooooo

Chris M said...

Pens win yet again, I was worried after they pulled a Rangers there in the 2nd.

Mike Georger said...

philly loses again! tacoma narrows 2008!

Flyer Hater said...

A Pens-Canadiens series would throw the Earth off its tilt.

Mike Georger said...

hahaha philly is in 10th right now. epic

Flyer Hater said...

Guys, Malkin has a Lemieux switch

kmlovespens said...

@ Flyer Hater

Seriously...We are all witnesses

Hip said...

Unreal. My cousin txted me updates throughout and her Gonchar goal one was completely incoherent!

Dr. Turk - solid BGL stat. Those last two minutes need to be for something legendary.

blufftalk said...

Kudos to the staff for gettin' this up on time. Malkin is sick. Go Pens.

Mike Georger said...

gg columbus! wouldve preferred a regulation win but we will take it

BlacknGold66 said...

Dicovered gameday chat tonight.

Awesomeblog.

It's nice to "yell" with other fans when you are outside of Pittsburgh.

Helluva win. Kennedy, Staal, Talbot, etc. Energy by guys like that is why this team is so great.

Malkin though... what can you say. It's like watching a Russain 66 at times.

LET'S GO PENS!!!

Mike Georger said...

anyone with espn insider on here? i think theres a rumor on there about us going after the other ruutu. confirm/deny?

Mike Georger said...

шестьдесят шесть

russian 66 i think.

Flyer Hater said...

Flyers out of the top 8, last place in the Atlantic. Pensblog Charlie's favorite team loses in the shootout against Columbus. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are one point behind the Sens for top spot in the East. We could be leading the Eastern Conference Saturday Night.

P.S. I just want to say again how great Kris Letang is. Seriously, Steiggy said this and it's one of the few smart things he's ever said, he's like a mini-Ray Bourque. When he gets unleashed offensively, holy hell.

BlacknGold66 said...

I'll check it out Mike G.

Canadien fans are such jokes. Maybe they should have chanted "stick measurement" to get a cheap goal at the end to tie the game. Dicks.

Mike Georger said...

"It's believed the Penguins are willing to package Jordan Staal in a deal to Chicago in exchange for the two wingers."

youve got to be kidding me. shero should get rode out of town if that happens, that would negate all the killer shit he has pulled off

Dr. Turkleton said...

@ m g

i cant see King Shero making THAT drastic of a move, at this point...why mess up the team chemistry & the future while the team is playing for the conference lead ????...
i could see moving sabu (if there are any takers) even for a draft pick or extra d-man (Joel Kwitkowski, anyone?)
the Pens are basically getting some trade deadline players in Fleury, Crosby & Roberts back

If it ain't broke....

Mike Georger said...

its not even like youre getting great pieces back. ruutu is so so and havlat is fragile. ugh i regret even asking about it at this point. but that site is sweet, thanks.

Fleury29 said...

Holy shit.

I mean, seriously... holy shit.

I'm starting to feel like it's 1992 all over again. I knew, knew, that the Penguins were going to win the Stanley Cup that year.

Is anyone else getting that feeling? This team is unstoppable. Maybe not this season but soon... soon, my friends, the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to end lives in the playoffs. They are going to devastate cities like natural disasters and dominate everything in sight.

We were here from the beginning, friends. We were witnesses. We saw it all.

When things looked their darkest, when things were bleak... we were there. We still believed.

When the Penguins won 23 games and were the worst team in the NHL, we were there. We didn't leave early, we stayed in our seats. We chanted, "Let's go Pens!" We wore the black and gold.

This team, these wins are our fucking birthright. We're supporters of the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS, god dammit! We've earned this... enjoy it!

We believe, as we always have and now other people are starting to believe. Those who don't are forced to believe when the Penguins go to their town and beat their teams.

This is it, the ascension to greatness. We were there once and we'll be there again.

1992 was not the last time "Pittsburgh Penguins" was meant to be inscribed upon that silver Cup.

Lets go Pens.

BlacknGold66 said...

Damn Fluery29!

Good to see that kind of passion out of a fellow Pens fan!!

aunt penny said...

I think gonch got point 600 tonite.

Jonny V said...

Fleury29, are you a descendent of William Wallace? Holy shit man, those were some passionnate words. Outstanding.

I don't see us losing more than two games in a row in the playoffs. That's right, I'm saying it. Playoffs. My outlook on life is to always look for the positives in things. Injury after injury severely tested that, but when this team is fully healthy again? Forget about it.

Personally I don't want to see 87 back before March...In like a lion.

Mike Georger said...

im circling march first against ottawa as his return.

the one thing that scares me is 11 of our last 10 games are in the division. any slump there could be fatal

Mike Georger said...

hey anyone got the link to that article titled something like 'pens expected to fade' when sid first got hurt? we should all email that guy and demand an apology article

Dr. Turkleton said...

it's 11:20pm........

Mike Georger said...

do you know where your children are?

PittHockey said...

mike, can you move the circle up to the boston game?

pleeeeeaaase? haha.

On Savran's Sports Beat before the game someone called in and asked about those trade rumors with the Blackhawks. Savran even knew the website's name and said that was nothing but mud...no such trade's going to happen.

wingergirl said...

mike g. -

you are indeed correct on шестьдесят шест being 66. good call.

I missed the game because of work. It's becoming a recurring theme lately, and it's really beginning to piss me off.

In any case, GO PENS!

Малкин = номир один.

Anonymous said...

I recall they had a poll on tsn.ca right after Sid got hurt that asked if the Pens would stay in the top 8 with him out, it was like 55 or 60% said no, what a bunch of jokes, that was before the name Evgeni Malkin haunted the dreams of every Habs fan

wingergirl said...

oops...

Малкин = номер один.

Dr. Turkleton said...

The Pens....[cough,cough....cough]
are my pick....[snort...cough,cough]
to be in the Stanley Cup Finals....[cough,cough,cough...cough]

so says da Fed

Mike Georger said...

malkin is indeed number one

Dr. Turkleton said...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Eric K said...

most entertaining game of the season so far. you know Conks was stunned when Sabu got the start. lot of MT jobbing would be happenin if the Pens didnt pull this one out. this team is on some kind of tear right now, i think it's safe to say that the past 20 game stretch or so they've been playin better hockey than during the big point streak last year.

key to victory -> mike yeo interview during 2nd intermission.

any1 else spot Adam Hall suited up in warmups tonight?? or was i just seeing things?

Dr. Turkleton said...

Jordan Staal on the trading block???? - da Fed

put the cough syrup down, J.F. & walk away....

Flyer Hater said...

Charlie, WOOOOOOOOOOO

blackngold66:

Sorry I missed your earlier post about Greentree....you got the lowdown though.

I might add:

1) Watch the PA cops - they're on a ticket writing campaign the rest of this Month

2) From the Turnpike, get off the 1st exit in PA - Rt 60 South towards the airport instead of going onto Wexford. Rt 60 becomes the Parkway West (past the airport) right through Greentree...that's the most direct route for Greentree from Cleveland.

seeker said...

The Philly game must have really shown the goonery of the Flyers...check the play-by-play with the number of Philly penalties.

The Flyers also had two simultaneous game misconducts, but I can't find out exactly what caused them.

kmlovespens: I didnt even get a chance to get the words out of my mouth. Geno took it to the house before i could say it. what i was gonna say is, seeing as how he came out of the penalty box like a bat out of hell on tuesday, he's gonna do the same thing and make something happen. no sooner had i thought about saying it that he scored. and WHAT A FREAKING PASS BY MALONE!!! where did THAT guy come from??

Great game. Had the Pens lost, i would have been pissed, but, at the same time, happy that i watched such a fantastic game. but it wouldnt have been a good consolation, that's for sure.

and i have to quote my brother: "I dont think Geno heard the Canadien's fans taunting him. He had too many points in his ears."

And washington, say good bye to your scoring championship. Malkin doesn't look back after tonight.

GOOOOOOO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike Georger said...

good christ no i dont speak russian, sadly

BlacknGold66 said...

Seeker:

Thanks for the advice man! We'll take that route.

You gonna be going to any games this weekend?

BlacknGold66 said...

Oh, and Stokes... I believe you are the one that told me that you go to the Souper Bowl frequently.

We plan on going before Saturday's game.

Last table by the door right?

e.mirchich said...

Malkin is just unreal and Malone has been money lately as well. That was his second tape-to-tape pass to spring the player coming from the box on a breakaway in the last few games. If I'm not mistaken he sprung Ruutu loose for his goal against Buffalo. Anyways awesome game and awesome night. Extended points lead for Geno, Philthy out of the top 8, things getting tighter at the top of the conference, and 600 for Gonch. Awesome. I love how electric the crowd is at Montreal games. Just unreal.

J.S. said...

Malkamania = unreal...BROTHER!

J.S. said...

seeker, I'm hoping you didn't get that info (comment 1) from an email. That rumor was shot down weeks ago.

seeker said...

j.s.,

I took it with a grain of salt myself..... THEN I drove up I-79 a couple times this week and it was abnormally crawling with State Troopers.

Maybe the cops don't read Snopes, but they were out in force!

- I'd love to get to the games this weekend, but work won't allow me.

- I should have mentioned that part of that Rt 60 South will be a toll road (I think the total toll will be $1.00). You're about 40-45 minutes from Greentree when you exit the Turnpike.

- Now that we know you're coming to town again and how you bring the Pens good luck, I feel much better about these games!

- Have a GREAT time man!!!!
