I wonder what the difference is withe Geno's "PP stick". Maybe a little more curved? I haven't seen an equipment tactic like that since Adam Deadmarsh back with LA, where he used a really open-faced stick to deflect the puck up at like a 70º angle, but wasn't good for anything else.

Pops, Steigy and Bourque have been killing all season with their Tobias Bluthe-ian play calling. I love games that start slow and just avalanche in the third period. Makes getting drunk a much more enjoyable experience.

I heard Grover say on the Pens hotline show after the game that the refs weren't even going to review the Malone goal. The Penguins video judge had to alert them to that fact. Mr. Magoo strikes again, get a helmet assface the 80s are over.

1. JOHNNY WRATH - In regards to your posts from the previous commentorblog, keep 'em coming, dude. As someone who has the tendency to get "longwinded" myself with some of my comments, I don't mind at all because at the very least, it lengthens my breaktime when I'm reading up on the blog while I'm at work. And anyone who refers to themself as "Gentleman of Leisure" is OK in my book.
2. Arena was a damn fun place to be for the third period. Hip refered to it as "orgasmblog". That's awesome and pretty much accurate.
3. Kudos to the Canes fan sitting behind us at the game (we were in Row K of Section D23...almost all the way at the top). Extremely cool guy, even as his team collapsed in the third period. You represent your team very well, sir.
4. Kris Beech, #24 in your program, #1 in your hearts, healthy scratch.
5. Jordan Staal was absolutely flying tonight.
6. Whitney had a bad game. Dude needs to start making better decisions with the puck, and he needs to start making better reads on when to make a play on the puck. He got caught like three or four times tonight pinching because he misread loose pucks.
7. Christensen took either a wicked slash or a wicked spear about three seconds before he scored. He doubled over for a split-second, channeled his inner Roberts, said "F this bullshit" and rifled one past Ward to get the ball rolling. Gutsy play by him, and Mellon responded accordingly.

Managed to secure a parking pass tonight for the East Lot.
Myself and the lovely Nancy Stoosh stayed all the way to the end of the game and then after perusing some souvenir stands, we headed out to the Stooshmobile to head home. We were sitting in the parking lot heading out of the north side of the arena (the side that doesn't exit onto Centre Ave), and we were stuck there for the better part of 20-30 minutes. No biggie.
We get up to the exit when I see a svelte gentleman in an overcoat walking from the arena directly in front of the Stooshmobile while we were stopped. A quick glance reveals it to be none other than...
Danny Potash
He, of course, proceeds to his car, but not before he acknowledges with a wave AND a very pronounced finger-point.
Capped off the night.
But I wonder...was it the Stooshes realizing we were in the presence of the greatness that is The Potash, or was it Danny Potash simply acknowledging the same, thus bringing about the finger point?

Great night all around. Even caught a hat from a delta dental pens patrol-guy in the 3rd period. Gave it to my wife when I got home (hope that earns some bonus points down the line)

arena was fun, for the 3rd period....the crowd seemed kinda on edge & restless thru 2 periods...esp. during that 4 minute PP when I think the pens registered negative SOG....(at least the rowdies up in E18 seemed to get more & more perturbed as the game moved thru the 1st 2 periods)
Then Crusher broke the seal & after the puck had enough Moe to cross the line for goal #2...it seemed the Canes spirit was broken.
Anyone else notice that Army seemed to kinda reinjure himself again?...it looked like he got hurt when he was checked into the boards near the penalty box & didn't have his same 'jump' the 2nd 1/2 of the 3rd period....hope it's nothing serious....
I had my binocs on Danny Potash on the pens bench during warmups & he seemed to be giving Death Stares to the Canes during warmups....he was 3 feet from Bibs already stationed in his 'box' & they didn't speak a word to each other....they both were probably getting their game faces ON

Has Ron Cook ever watched a hockey game in his life? I'm sorry that he has a love affair with MAF.
I agree that the idea of trading MAF is ludicrous. But the fact of the matter is, goaltending is not about talent. It's about handling the puck and stopping the puck from going into the net. Conklin has consistently done both, and as long as he does, he'll keep the job that he deserves.
I second the Johnny Wrath long-windedness. And Stoosh's. Yinz def. have a way with words.
