GameDay (42) -- Pens @ Panthers

[fla.png]

7:30

The Pens haven't played in forever.
Big game down in Sunrise, Florida.
The start of a three-game tear through the Sunbelt.

They head to Tampa after this.

And then long-awaited reunion with Mark Recchi in Atlanta.

..................................................................................
..................................................................................

Before we get into this mini post in a post,
we have to send thanks to Matt K. in Sharpsville, PA.

He got us off our butts and respectfully demanded that we change something on the site.

No longer will you lose your place here when you click on a link.

SIMPLY CLICK ON THE LINK, AND IT WILL OPEN IN A NEW TAB

We've wanted to do that since day one.

It doesn't seem to work if you venture off the main page.
We're not Nick Burns, so we don't know what that's all about.

...............................................................................................................

Some non-expo photoshops have been rolling in.

This is from the folks at [ myspace.com/mariolemieux ]

Jason S.

Don was in Calgary recently

We want to say we don't intentionally job anyyone.
In a perfect world, every PS gets on the site.
If it doesn't, e-mail it to us again and tell us we're idiots.

.................................................................................

Bing is on the cover of the new edition of Men's Fitness.
This is just a setup.

............................

In news that shocks the world, or it shocks no one,
apparently someone in the Hill District didn't like prepared document...

After a news conference to announce they will oppose a Jan. 14 city planning commission vote on a master plan for replacing Mellon Arena ... Someone put a lighter to the document and it went up in flames. [ PG ]

What a move.
How pumped was that person when they lit that on fire?

Four people left the meeting shortly after the document was set aflame,
as they came to realize that it was not crack.

...............................................................................

Here's a strange tidbit that Philip M. found.
"Erik Christensen has earned the praise of his coach, Claude Julien, for his improved commitment to defense and has worked his way out of the doghouse. After being scratched five times in the first three months of the season, Christensen has been decidedly more physical as of late and has earned the trust of his Julien. He has recorded six of his 13 points this season in his past seven games and his maturity could lead to his dynamic offensive potential finally being realized."

He said it was on USA Today, which gets its stuff from Rotoworld.
We couldn't find the link.

..............................

And finally, has anyone seen Charlie?
The last time we saw him, he was in the magazine aisle at Giant Eagle.

FIRST!

Thanks for the kind words in the previous post.

If it was mud, you would have told us, and we would have jumped off a bridge.

Whoever said that our healthy scratch in the Islander recap righted the ship here, you hit the nail on the head.

We're tools for not going back and seeing who it was, but gotta run.

Go pens

Hey, everyone.

I came here when I was looking for a Winter Classic recap.
I'm hooked.

It took me a while to comment, but everyone here seems pretty nice.

NO ONE GO ALONG WITH THIS "LITTLE TIGER" BUSINESS.

caps lock is cruise control to cool, by the way.

Lady Jaye said...

wilsmith> Little Tiger is just evil. But the photoshop still makes me want to buy Frosted Flakes... if I buy them am I giving into the Steigy machine?

And now I have my Christmas tree topper for next year. That just rocks.

the conk's SO streak ended because they kept showing how long he had gone without allowing a goal. this is why i hate the media, jinxing bastards.

jim said...

did anyone else watch the center ice florida feed? i think the announcers were wasted. i swear by the end they were rooting for the pens.

Remember how all of us were talking about suicide blog when the Pens were losing all those Atlantic divison games in a row two months back? Direct opposite feeling right now, this feels like "the streak" from last year.

LETS GO PENS!!!!!!

hebrew - I swear to Abba if you jinxed it, you'll be thinking suicide blog again!!!

Sweet photoshops, the Roberts x-mas tree star reminds me of what my dad would do at his work. Except it would be a picture of him on a star. And the other one reminds me of this.

I noticed the link clicky thing thing and my middle finger thanks u. No more right clicks.

And as Steigy and Bjork pointed out, how cool that after Taffe, Kennedy, and Letang scored in a game (#'s 38, 48, & 58), Sykora, Crosby, and Laraque (& almost Ruutu) score. That's #'s 17, 87, 27 and 37 for those playing at home.

I watched that feed. They were rooting for the Pens. Potvin is a good color guy. Not too sure about their play by play guy. And yes this does feel like the streak from last year. Let's take down the Ning!!

Thoughts, dudes...

1. I suppose the rat craze is ancient history down in Florida when it comes to this hockey team. The only thing more apathetic than the Florida fanbase tonight might have been the team itself.

2. Can you imagine the outcry if in the cap era, the Pens trading the equivalent of Roberto Luongo and having only Bryan F'ing Allen to show for it?

3. Had to love Bob Errey jamming Florida for selling tickets to the game tonight on a 2-for-$50 deal that also included free parking and a slew of food at the game. If that's what they have to do when Crosby comes to town, I can only imagine what they do to bring people in for those mid-week banner matchups with the Carolina Hurricanes.

4. What I wouldn't give for someone to simply go up to Steigy on the street, grab him by the shoulders and say, "Tyler the Tiger? Stop. For the love of all that is holy, just stop." The photoshop is cool. Steigy's creepy nicknames? Ummmm, not so much.

5. Conkblock. It's being emailed to DVE tomorrow morning at about 8:00 AM as an official nickname suggestion for Conklin, per their discussion this morning that he could use a nickname.

Googling about for the source of the Claude Julien as the Pens coach story, I found only this one link:

Screaming Sports

It credits the Post Gazette as it's source even though Molinari's story correctly says Michel Therrien???

Eric K said...

looked like the Cats needed to turn some lights on in their building...if i was one of the 63 fans in attendance, i woulda been pissed.

stoosh, good call on the DVE idea about "conkblock" i heard them saying he needed a nickname, if i hear conkblock on the radio, my car radio may blowup from sheer domination of the radio waves.

Can't wait til Thursday to hear Steigy overplay the Sid vs. Vinny thing all game long...

Fuck Florida, Let's GO Pens

2 tix for 50 bucks? And free parking and food??? What the frig? I could get that deal for a Halifax Mooseheads game.
