The Dark Knight

Dark Knight fans, sit down.

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment. [ NY Times ]

......................................................

Bing is out 6 to 8 weeks, by the way.

[ TSN ] is always the first to break news.
Always.

.....................................................

Seeing Crosby and Lemieux dominating in what appears to be the weakest owner's box in North American sports got us thinking.

January 12, 1993 -- Lemieux leaves team to undergo radiation treatments to battle Hodgkin's Disease.

January 18, 2008 -- Crosby goes down with a high-ankle sprain.

Comparing those two ailments is something we're ashamed of doing.
But...

March 2, 1993 -- Lemieux returns after missing 7 weeks of action and 23 games.
Comes back trailing Pat Lafontaine by 12 points for the Art Ross.

He goes on a tear, scoring an unrealistic 56 points in the last 20 games of the season to win the points race by 12 points.

March something 2008 -- Crosby returns.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Pens fans were beside themselves as Evgeni Malkin was continuously snubbed for the ASG while marquee player after marquee player went on the shelf.

And not even 5 days later, Malkin being in the ASG is the last thing anyone wants.

But the NHL wants it. [ TSN ]

Ovechkin may just take a run at him in the Eastern Conference locker room.

Put your prayers for Sid aside and direct them towards Malkin getting out of Atlanta safe.

...............................................................................

The Leafs fired their GM.
That's a joke unto itself. [ TSN ]

.............................................................................

AFTERMATH

[wsh.png]

All that needed to be said has already been taken care of.

[ Post Game Heroes ] is sick when it comes to statistical breakdowns.

They knew what they were doing when they compared Ovechkin and Semin against Crosby and Malkin.
Some surprising numbers at that link.

Conkblog

Changed up the pads last night.

Apparently, Irish Ty Conklin somehow doesn't believe in superstitions.
Or, since he lost against Tampa, he changed it up, thus believing superstitions.

==============

STATS UPDATE

Conklin needs to reach the 27-game pace to start getting recognized on the NHL goalie leaderboards.

If he plays the next 3 games, he will be on pace for 27.3333 games.

I just saw that about Heath, mourningblog, looked to be a good Joker. If Crosby scores nearly 3 points a game upon return, I'll shit myself, no joke. Love the Goosebumps reference. Solid.

Can't wait for the expo.

barf. ambien and other mixed pills will do that. mary-kate olsen's apartment...yeesh.

conk should wear the black pads for home guys and white pads for away games to match the jerseys.

Hilarious reading from a Caps blog:

http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/citydesk/index.php/2008/01/22/holy-shit-the-caps-finally-beat-the-penguins-yo-pittsburgh-you-suck/

Caps fans are like the retarded little brother that is always trying to prove they can play with the big kids.

Credit for finding the article goes to some jobber over at hfboards.

Hm, I can't remember how to post the entire link. Just go to Washingtoncitypaper.com, click on blogs and look for the "Holy shit, the Caps beat the Pens!" article. It's worth the effort.

Costa- Were you the semi-beared guy in section D25/26 last night ushering?

I like Conk in the black pads. I hope he goes back to them. Black is much tougher looking than white.

Doubtaboutit had a similar take on the Lemieux-Crosby injury comparison, only they went with the 91-92 season where Mario missed 18 games. Crosby missing 18 games would have him come back against the Bruins, which is the last game in February. Looks like he has a bit of wiggle room for an early return

so for the expo, are yinz gonna post em al or just 'good ones'?

justincredibleh said...

i agree, the black pads are better. how bout this picture of malkin.

i love sid, but sid is not mario. mario was the best ever, reguardless of what the recordbooks say. sid will be "one of the best ever" when it's all said and done.

if that's really gonchar, he should be removed from the all-star roster. all-stars don't wears crocs.

wilsmith - I was just wondering what you thought of Joe B as an announcer?

Hahaah. I just want to get you fired up like a hand job in an old camaro.

dying alive,

To make a link, this is the HTML tag...

type...(and I have to break it up so it will post)

<
a href=

>click me< (Or whatever you want it to say)
/a

Hopefully it works for you.

HA!! Funny stuff with Gonchar! I agree with you completely, dying alive. One of my friends is a Caps fan and she kept talking to me about Ovie. So I had to respond with "Nice hit on Geno. It almost worked!" She got mad at me. I guess she deserves it she only likes the Crapitals because she finds "All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth and a playoff chance" attractive.

BTW Good deal with Lemieux and Crosby idea ... hope it works. Let's go expo!

crosby has a pair of those yellow crocs too...

Selfishly I am so bummed out because I love Batman. From everything I've seen and heard, Ledger is awesome as the Joker. I'm even more bummed out that he won't be appearing in future Batman movies.

As stated on another site, Ledger seemed to treat acting as an art form and not just a way to get women to have sex with him. All gay cowboy jokes aside, it is a shame.

Go Pens. Blah blah blah...

stokes said...

Bummer about Ledger. That is messed up. i think he'll be a GREAT Joker, nonetheless.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE EXPO!!!

that's gonna be an awkward movie premiere....

Can't wait for the expo, and also can't wait for this:

Ron Francis signing at BC Sports

Thanks karri for the html how-to.

The powers-that-be added Scott Neidermeyer to the All-star roster.

Anyone else see a problem with this?

I've said it for months -- if the Ducks were my team, i would castrate him. I don't care if you're a famous hockey player. No common man can just take a slew of months off from his job, screwing up his coworkers and company, only to non-chelantly return when he feels like it.

Heard about Heath today during one of my lecture classes. Came home only to find out it was true. Not going to lie when I say I stared at my computer screen in shock for at least 5 minutes. The Dark Knight is going to be hard to watch for many.

As for the game last night. Completely unreal. I haven't seen a game that fast paced and full of action in a long time. Malkin is insane...he needs an ass like Ovechkin to fuel him more often.

dude, wipe the drool off of your chin, pensblog charlie and the washingtoncapitals.com webmaster are jealous

hm i was just watching comcast and they picked apart crosby getting hurt and if you look right before he hits the boards hes looking for a penalty interesting

stokes said...

ok alright. i doubt that sid was "looking for a penalty," because the penalty was called. he said so himself-he went in the boards the way he always does and didnt fare so well this time. hopefully he changes his landing style.

in other news, the flyers got their tits scrubbed, 7-3. not sure if that's good news or bad news, but the highlights looked like they were completely out of place.

EFF THE FLYERS!!!

MEGAN - Agreed on Ledger. I was stunned when I heard that today. I'm so looking forward to that movie, and I know now that I'm going to sit there and have the same sort of empty strange feeling I had the first time I saw "The Crow".

And since I might be dating myself a bit with that reference, for those who don't know, Brandon Lee - who was Bruce Lee's son and the lead in the "The Crow" - was killed during final filming of the movie. "The Crow" was a huge movie amongst some of my friends during my freshman year of college.

i'm pissed that i couldn't find time to get any entries into this photoshop expo... i just couldn't find any time with work being so hectic... oh well... i'll take some pride in my therrien with the cigar got posted today (first thing i thought of when i saw the pic)

Lloyd said...

Stoosh:

The Crow wasn't that long ago... 1994 to be exact. The only footage of him dying was given to his mother (to prevent what happened with Bruce Lee... the only actor to posthumously 'act' in his film... they filmed a scene with bruce in the casket.) Creepy if you ask me. I think his mother destroyed the tape.

note: I read that in a book called bathroom reader. www.bathroomreader.com

I was shocked too.
