If you want the skinny on watching the game using the internet, read the previous post and the comments in that previous post.
It'll be nice to hear Steiggy and Errey on the call.
But all of us will be tuning into The X at 6:50 to at least hear Mike Lange christen the new season.
If this was on Versus, we would have to hear about the Staal brothers all night.

Hey if the score has you down, just check out espn.com's scoreboard. It's still knotted up at 0-0 - how exciting!
I have been sitting here through this thinking "Mario used to double shift all the time, playing on two different lines, why don't they do that with Sid?" Well, looks like Lord Therrien had the same idea, putting him out with BGL and Ruutu along with his normal line. Like it. Even if they are losing.
Lets hope for a better performance tomorrow night, cause they look really flat and really confused tonight.
That's cause ESPN doesn't care about hockey.
The recap:
Period 1: Fleury and Orpik combine to let up a lucky goal. Sykora and Christensen get robbed. Staal gets robbed shorthanded. Cam Ward on target.
Period 2: The Pens don't bother coming out of the locker rooms
Period 3: Cam Ward is some sort of Jedi.
4-1 final. Not the best start, but it's only one game.
At least we scored. Hopefully that translates into some kind of momentum tomorrow.
Guins MVP tonite...BGL. Dude was tearing it up.
wow. that was horrible. cam ward must have eaten his wheaties today, and the pens must have decided that not showing up until the third period was the best strategy to go with. that, and the lucky-goal-gods favored carolina. even sid had trouble getting his first shot on goal. so he ends the first game pointless. damn it.
well, at least it wasn't a shutout. :/ and i'm not worried - it's only the first game. there are 81 to go. hopefully they'll work out the kinks now and fucking BRING IT to the mellon tomorrow.
...if they're playing like this in 2 weeks, THEN we have a problem.
I wasn't expecting a letdown like that, but hopefully they'll use it to motivate themselves against Anaheim.

I agree with anon... Cam Ward was ridiculous tonight. The third period was, apparently, the only period the Pens showed up for. They played okay but damn that Ward. Damn him.
Dany Sabourin made an appearance, incredible. I didn't expect that to happen tonight.
Either way, who gives a crap? The Penguins were on the ice. (Still based in Pittsburgh, I might add.) The puck was dropped and I get to look forward to a Pensblog recap tomorrow morning. There's a lot to be happy about.

P.S.- I realized tonight that two of the greats from the Cup years are now working for the 'Canes in some capacity. Sir Ron Francis and Tom Barrasso. Is Carolina like the Pittsburgh assisted living facility? Somebody photoshop Barrasso in a wheel chair. I'd do it myself but I don't have the skills.
