Keep on Keeping on

Short, quick post tonight.
Whatever we miss be sure to check out commentorblog.
We apologize for the weak post.

Sleep> everything else

The Pens' schedule is out.
We have two more months to analyze this schedule.
So no need to over saturate this subject.

Opening night is October 5 in Carolina.
What a great bunch of douchebags to open up against.
If you don't get at least three Scott Walker gay photoshops we can use, we have accomplished nothing.

The main focal point on the schedule is the January 1 game in Buffalo.
Rumors have surfaced about a possible outdoor game called the "Ice Bowl" will be played at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Two thoughts:

Bart Starr is a joke

And at least Buffalo could actually win something in January.

Keep your head up, dick.

If the outdoor game does go down, see ya there.
...............................

If you are reading this, you should be voting for Bing.
Whatever you do, don't watch the debate on this issue, you'll get very upset.
Especially when that dude who is on College Gameday says something to the effect of Hockey not mattering.

And for all the great resources on ESPN.
They could only come up with this picture:

Espn sucks

No clue why everyone is in love with Derek Jeter.
Everyone talks about his hustle, blah blah.
That time he dove into the stands.
Did he really dive, or did someone pull him in?
Pictures never lie.

Remember, vote for Sid, you have till 6 pm

.....
...Whats that you say Mr. Roberts, sir?

We wanted to share a song, summer intern, and commentorblog veteran Tiff made with some help.
We gave it some pictures and put it up on youtube for now.

Enjoy
(Thanks again Tiff)

A Winter in the Sun
Game #42
January 10, 2007

Good Riddance, Sunshine State. PENS LOSE.

That is until Florida started entering the Penguins' zone.
A shot rings off the pipe, and the goal horn sounds, but no goal.
About 8 seconds later, Olli Jokinen scores his first of 11 goals on the night to make it 1-0.

No big whoop. 1-0 is usually a comforting deficit for this resilient Pens.

The rest of the first period was a bunch of nothingness with the Pens getting stonewalled by Jimmy the Goalie, another no-name getting a victory over the Penguins.

Alex Auld: I think my sister took him to prom.

give me welch, give me dupont, give me someone.

ugh.

AHL all-star jon filewich would be a better option than half the forwards on the roster now. i feel like malone and ouellet have accomplished as much in the past 5 games as ekman.

mark recchi should be fined for every hooking/interference/tripping bad penalty he takes. isn't the veteran leader supposed to be above those petty, stupid dumb plays?

RE: ESPN, Kirk Herbstreit, 'Who's NOW?', and everyone else on the 'Worldwide leader in sports'...

They blow. Opinions are like assholes...everybody's got one.

Except Bucci...he's A-OK with me.

The rest...fuckers.

Yesss a commenterblog highlight for me. Those were some pretty stressful days, and that Florida game might have been one of the most frustrating (other than St. Louis) than of the whole year.

Pensblog is right, how we all made it through w/out mass suicides is amazing.

Karri, they said the Ice Bowl game is going to be at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, but they still have to work out the logistics of setting it up, so it's not a definite yet. Still, it'd be well worth a trip up for an outdoor game, that would be a great experience.

Buffalo is an immaculate joke, what a horrible city. The only two ESPN anchors I even remotely respect are Steve Levy and John Buccigross everyone else is mud. And Herbstreit blows GO BLUE.

Whole state of Michigan,
Whole state of Michigan,
Don't give a damn 'bout the whole state of Michigan,
'Cause we're from O-HI-O!

GO BUCKS!!!

Herbstreit may be annoying, but he's hot!

wilsmith said...

derrr, ohio? michigan? talk about retards. Anytime I feel bad about how boring PA is, I take a trip through Ohio and it reminds me how good I have it. It's like a wasteland over there.

<-- psu alum. We have a good season every 10 years or something, right?

Jonny V said...

First of all, Tiffany, Holy Shnikies! Words cannot even describe...

They were talking about Mario wanting that game here last night on the Daily Sportscall, with PNC Park being the preferable spot for it. Imagining PNC in in the wintertime with that view of the city AND the Pens playing? Like Joey Russo from Blossom said, Whoa!

Herbstreit might be "hot", but the way he works himself up talking about 18-20 year old boys is pretty gay.

Fred Hickman rules.

Kenny Melvin said...

Spencemo I admit Michigan hasn't beaten Ohio State in a couple of years and that pisses the hell out of me. But you wait until this year at the Big House. That's all gonna change. HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!

Spencemo said...

Pfft...I wouldn't care if Herbstreit is gay or not...he's just eye candy.

No, wilsmith, INDIANA is the wasteland. Going on I-80 through there is cornfieldcornfieldcornfieldSOYBEANFIELDcornfield, until you hit Gary, and then it stinks like hell. And, PSU may only have one good season every 10 years or so, but you do have JoePa, and that's alright.

Nice work on the song, Tiff. Great way to start the day. Who's singing and playing??

I'm totally jazzed to see the Pens out here in November...first time they've visited Denver since I moved here. I will tear the Pepsi Center down Nov. 1. There's tons of Pitt's folks out here...should be crazy.

I think they should play the outdoor game at Schenley Park. ha! If it ends up at PNC, that would be a sweet bonus for a holiday trip back to the burgh.

Tiff, wow, that video was great!

Jonny V said...

Pretty soon it'll be brought to us by Home Depot

wilsmith said...

haha, ryan i knew it was coming eventually. to be honest, I hate that call and response stuff, it's not nearly impressive as some of the things other schools have come up with. all the collective minds that have gone through psu, and the best they can come up with is the "we are" chant? I'm also pissed that kids at games started jingling their keys and doing push-up / crowd surfing when a TD is scored, isn't that Notre Dame's gig? and the whole zombie nation thing just irks me, that's Wisconsin.

When you talk about PSU, you should talk about riots and marshmallows -- the best two parts of our tradition and they've gone away.

and spence, sorry, the last time I was in indiana was when i was about 12, so I dont remember it all too well, but being that I usually have to make one trip to Ohio (usually cedar point) a year, I get a refresher, and am constantly reminded of how much of pitiful wasteland that state really is. but yeah, I hear Indiana is pretty bad too -- I had a soc prof spend a whole day talking about how shitty Gary was.
and from what I remember, Michigan was no better. I guess I just have something against flatlands.

as far as each states respective university, college is college, they're all the same -- just different colors.

An outdoor game---wherever it is---would be frickin' fantastic! A bit insane, but unforgettable.

PB, the Roberts' pics you used totally complete the song. Thanks a lot for your hard work. ;-)

I sang the melody & my cousin, Brenna, taught me the harmony (which I also sang). My cousin, Brian, plays ALL the instruments: tambourine, bass, acoustic & electric guitar. Thanks for letting me fool around & use your recording equipment, guys. You rock & I love you!!

I just got back from my orientation at OSU.

Looking forward to the new season- anyone know when training camp dates are released?

And good that Colby's back. Somone needs to injure a Carolina player when we open the season against them.

jazzhall said...

Shero continues to make solid moves. Colby is a solid player, any idea of the specifics on the contract?

As for colleges, the most recent excitement at ours it appears was the case of a runaway 1500lb wrecking ball.

Fantastic that Colby re-signed for two more years. This team is going to be incredible to watch! Go Shero!

Tiff, unbelievable job you did. (you and your cousins)

Tiff babe... that was money in the bank. Paul Simon = a god amongst men, the Gary Roberts of the acoustic rock world if you will. Great choice. I got chills watching the video. I'm seriously considering pushing my leave back from late August to September - October to catch a few games, god knows it would be worth it but I already bought my tickets and I'm not sure if I can like get my money back or anything like that.

Tiff... hit me up on AIM or are you too good for that now that you're the pensblog idol?

put the www part after the //, and end it at ">, then put a description between the > and <, where it says click me

snoopyjode said...

god damn it. sid lost.

Kenny Melvin said...

God showing by Pens fans though and remember 30% of the vote was from the panel of "experts"

Spencemo said...

OK, TheNick, just because one guy gets caught, on film, 'being his own best friend' in the Berea Public Library, that shouldn't condemn the entire state! I'm sure that people have done the exact same thing in a library somewhere deep in Pennsyltucky...

Kenny Melvin said...

Spencemo you guys lost two national title games to the same school, there's no right to talk.

Anonymous said...

also just because you cant see the whole link doesnt mean it wont work

if you just double click on the link and then hit copy and paste it will get it all. if that makes any sense

Spencemo said...

Kenny...

I wasn't even talking about OSU, and neither was TheNick. His comment was about the entire state ("this is all anybody needs to know about ohio"), of which I'm a resident. In fact, the news report he gave the link for was from Cleveland, which is no where near OSU. Their inability to beat Florida for the national title in either football or basketball is totally irrelevant to the trend of the comments.

Christina said...

tiff, that was absolutely incredible!! you have some real talent, girl.

can we start a grassroots campaign to get FSN to use tiff's song on opening night when gary roberts scores his two goals??? (you heard it here first)

and espn = total joke. at least we made it respectable compared to some of the other so-called "matchups"
Sid still rules above all others though

snoopyjode said...

okay, i finally got to hear the song (we're not allowed to have speakers at work - gay). that was fantastic, tiff. you really have a beautiful voice. how awesome would it be if roberts actually got to hear it?! i bet he'd love it, too. :)

Kenny Melvin said...

I know spencemo, I just like to take potshots about Ohio State as often as possible

Jason said...

am i correct in assuming that if you subtract the votes from espn's 'experts' that sid would have won?
