Pens Playoff Schedule Is Up
Can't remember if it happened last year, but the suspense surrounding the NHL Shootout format reached the ultimate on Sunday. The Islanders needed a win to get into the playoffs.
A loss means the Maple Leafs get in.
Behind Richard Park, they had a 2-0 lead going into the last five minutes of their game against the Devils.
The Devils get a goal to make it 2-1 with about 4:00 left.
Then they score again with 0.8 seconds left to tie it.
The CN Tower nearly toppled from the eruption in Toronto.
Just imagine the elation that Leafs fans felt when the Devils tied it up.
Overtime is for naught...and it's shootout city.
New York's goalie Jimmy Somethingwicz has been coming up huge in relief of Rick DiPietro.
It didn't stop today.
Islanders are in the playoffs.

Mannnnnnnn

chris stevenson = jobber
in the 1991-1992 playoff goals:
recchi + stevens = money in the bank
go pens
FSN Pittsburgh shows every game in the first round not on NBC, so don't worry folks. Although I'd rather watch the Versus feed because Doc Emrick>>>>>>>>>>Steigy
Guys,
I swear, those videos got me so pumped they gave me butterflies, chills, & brought me to tears. Is that crazy or what??
So, thanks for sharing. “ŮŽ”
P.S. Derek, I just checked my e-mail....haha.
hahaha the proposal still stands haha
Hahaha...you're too much!! But I'm just not ready for that yet. ;-)
Love the Queer Eye pic Ron...
Ok...I got the Don Cherry, Jason Blake, Jobber Jagr, and Martin Brodeur...I just can't place the other gay one...please...who is it?
For what its worth
ESPN's vote for the winners here's the pens series.
4) (4) Ottawa vs. (5) Pittsburgh: Who wins?
26.0% Penguins in six
23.7% Penguins in seven
18.2% Senators in seven
17.5% Senators in six
6.8% Penguins in five
5.4% Senators in five
1.4% Penguins in four
1.0% Senators in four
The other guy is Jason Spezza, on the far left. I figure that would be a tough one for people to recognize, because he's such a faceless jobber.
Thanks Ron...would've never guessed Jason Spezza...really good job...
btw...nice website :)

TSN's Penguins prediction:
"Doug Weight has looked much more comfortable lately and is skating with Mark Recchi and Chad LaRose. Matt Cullen could be an intriguing sleeper pick now that he's on the right flank with Eric Staal and Cory Stillman on the number one line. After spending most of the season hurt, Josef Vasicek has joined Rod Brind'Amour and Justin Williams on an effective scoring unit. Of course, a change could be on the way for one of these lines when Ray Whitney, who is a dynamo on the power play, returns to the lineup. Before he was injured, Whitney was playing with Weight and Recchi."
In addition to this cut and paste Canadian journalism backfiring, they say Armstrong was "much better as a rookie" and Malone's "productivity has dropped". I emailed these idiots.... you should too.
wow...way to be on the ball with that one, TSN. hope you didn't end up with your fingers stuck together from that major cutting and pasting....
email sent to Canadian journalist jobbers.
fsn has games 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7, like chris said... i like this, because i hate versus.... all they care about is the sabres
Series D Time (ET) #4 Ottawa vs. #5 Pittsburgh TV
Wednesday, April 11 7:00 p.m. Pittsburgh at Ottawa FSN Pittsburgh
Saturday, April, 14 3:00 p.m. Pittsburgh at Ottawa NBC
Sunday, April, 15 6:00 p.m. Ottawa at Pittsburgh FSN Pittsburgh
Tuesday, April, 17 7:00 p.m. Ottawa at Pittsburgh FSN Pittsburgh
* Thursday, April 19 7:00 p.m. Pittsburgh at Ottawa FSN Pittsburgh
* Sunday, April 22 1:00 p.m. Ottawa at Pittsburgh NBC
* Tuesday, April 24 7:00 p.m. Pittsburgh at Ottawa FSN Pittsburgh
Yea, Versus has the whole Islanders-Sabres series. I think this will be a more interesting series then some folks think. To see what the Isles have done the last week I don't think the Sabres should look past them. Here are my pick:
Sabres in 6
Pens in 7
Devils in 5
Thrashers in 7
though i know this is a pensblog, if you havent seen the news in the last three days, today is the pirates opener...
thank you wtae for having a 7min special about opening day for the buccos... losers
Thanks for your kind comments! If anyone gets the chance, please visit www.thesportsidiot.com. Me and 2 friends have recently started it and it deals with western PA sports. If you're bored, please visit, and I hope you like it. There will be more updates as soon as my semester is over at the end of April.
I know it's never off subject with you guys, but when Heroes comes back on 4-23-07, isn't it convenient that the Pens don't have a game scheduled for that night! (Save the Penguins...Save the World)
ESPN's Scott Burnside is taking the Sens in 5. As if working for ESPN doesn't damage one's credibility enough as it is.
According to the Pens website, FSN has the games:
http://www.pittsburghpenguins.com/team/features/arts/2448.0.php
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2007/04/09/belfour-arrest.html
Belfour and Peltonen got arrested. Haha.
Someone wrote into the Empty Netters blog and referred to Gary Roberts as "The Dread Penguin Roberts".
I have to admit, as inconceivable as it may be, I actually like that. A lot.
Ron,
Haha....your Queer Eye pic made me laugh, but I couldn't figure out who was on the left either. :-) So, thanks for clearin' that up. And one more thing...gotta say that those playoff beard pics on your website (from KDKA) are hilarious!
No problem, Tiffany, and thanks for the kind words. Your site is very clever; keep up the good work.
God, Mellon sounded so loud during those playoff goal videos. I can't wait for the playoffs.
I was at that rally in '92, my friends and I cut school and went. It was insane.
Another great article by Buccigross, with a nice anecdote by Keith Jones about the 5 OT game in 2000. The first email is cool too...
Best. Naps. Ever.

Sometimes the jokes are way too easy...it's a MerryMaid-like service...but the name alone is too funny...
TVGuide.com says the games are on Versus. We don't get Versus up here in Grove City!!! I might have to bomb our cable provider.
Does anyone remember this article? FSN has rights to all but two of the weekend games, in which NBC has the rights.
Calm down.
Versus has no rights to their first round games. In the second round they only have rights to two non-weekend games. NBC would also have up to two weekend games and then FSN has the rest of them.
Jon...thanks so much for the link to the John Buccigross article and the heads-up on the first email.
A really interesting story that Chris told. Like your comments. :)
My prediction is that the city of Ottawa gives Ray Emery the permission to start living life as a woman, thus neglecting his duties in the box... the net, that is...
That will leave the Pens wondering if their baby should really be a Gerber baby... Choke city, Pens in 4, whether or not Ray gets his operation.
The NHL site's TV schedule only shows US and Canadian national networks. If you go to the Pens' site, you'll see that the non-NBC games are slated to be on FSN locally.
