Huge shout-out to Randy Longo.
You have to respect that pic.

.....................................................

Back on the horse.
We are so out of touch.

For the first time in a while, we can give a semi-close look at the NHL.

The same close look your mom gives TNT when "Primal Fear" is on.

Before the NHL is touched upon, we were e-mailed the exclusive fall schedule for the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

Catholic-rock band "Just A Little Faith" will be performing on Sept 15, 2007.

The following night, Al Davis and the Christian Crusaders bring their show to town.

It must suck not having a hockey team.

..........................................................

...Andrew Raycroft is still not getting the approval of fans up in Leafs Nation.

...Islander Chris Simon may be facing legal action for the Hollweg hit...

.

...The Islanders sans DiPietro also lose to the Ottawa Senators Thursday night...

Ted Nolan...thoughts?

Me not happy.
Playoffs no look good.

...New Jersey actually shows up and beats Carolina...Scott Gomez with a goal and an assist.

Picture: Scott Gomez's dad is overcome with emotion

...Boston kept their fading hopes alive...

Buffalo jobbed the Panthers...

and Philly owns ATL.

...................................

Standings:

Contrary to popular belief, the Western Conference actually exists.
Here's some division notes from the Northwest.
Roberto Luongo is money in the bank.

" Yes, your honor. I would like to make a case for Roberto Luongo for the Hart Trophy. "

............................................

Et tu, Ruutu?
( Justin )

.........................................

Huge game Friday night.

Guy Carbonneau's wife won't be making the trip.

I love how Conklin is still wearing his Columbus mask for the Sabres :3

Does anyone else think that it's complete bullshit that Atlanta has less points than Ottawa or Pittsburgh, but is ahead of them in the standings? I hate that rule about division leaders automatically getting top seeds.

Arlow said...

Yeah, kind of wish they'd change that myself.

dying alive said...

I mean, you'd expect each of the division leaders to make the playoffs unless one of the divisions ended up being completely pathetic, so it probably wouldn't matter much in terms of just making the playoffs.

But if the season ended today, Atlanta would get home ice advantage and the Pens wouldn't even though the Pens have more points, which is garbage. They should go strictly by points when they're ranking these teams.

Randy Longo, that Pens/Pirates pic is awesome!!
Can you please send it to me?

Thanks

thats funny, i was gonna try and put ted nolans face on that crying indian the other day

It makes sense that the division leaders get home ice advantage. Since teams mostly play interdivisional games, a division leader having a few less points than a lesser ranking team in another division could just mean they are in a more competitive division. Sometimes it will work out that better teams are lower seeds, but there's no perfect system.

I agree with you emdubs. I makes perfect sense to me. Changing that would be extreamly unfair based on the lopsided schedules.

et tu ruutu is hilarious...keep them coming justin.

thanks
i have a couple i didnt send yet, one specifically that has to do with montreal
youll probably see it tonight

Also, the way the system is now, allows for more heated games within any division, creating the rivalries that we see...Divisional points have a little more weight. The system is solid the way it is, I think.

Go Penssssssssssssssssssssss

Love the Ted Nolan stuff.

justin you inspired me, I sent in a ruutu piece, maybe they'll put it up tomorrow... any word on whether or not BGL will be in the lineup tonight?

Hi, I'm new here (only my 2nd comment)...Justin, those pictures you do are absolutely fantastic. This whole site is great...I'm glad found it!

You guys do make good points about the divisional matchups. I guess it's just sour grapes on my part because it's the Pens who might not get home ice advantage. If the situation were reversed, I'd probably have no problem with it. Heh.

STeve said...

The only time I see this system fail in is the event that a team with more points than a division leader gets knocked out of the playoffs completely.

The playoffs are a battle of the best of the best, not best of the best of a division.

I had a dream last night about how amazing Mark Eaton was for being able to play full time in both the NHL and MLB. This place is taking over my mind or something.

-Tee, Laraque has declared himself 100% but is unsure if he'll be in the lineup due to the fact that Therrien likes to stick w/ what is working. Personally I think Petro has played very well the past 2 games. Isn't it nice to have problems like these for a change!?! Depth is a huge strength of this team.

Oh and I almost forgot...I'm glad to see Bushwick Bill of Geto Boys fame has found success w/ "Just A Little Faith." You guys are hilarious.

Nice. That pirates picture is great...and it's oddly fitting how well Fleury and his mask go into that scene.

Anyone have anymore Pens videos like the Bourque one? I have a program that gets them off of youtube and puts them on my Ipod.

I'd REALLY like to find the Trottier/Kevin Stevens one where they berate Bellows, but it's been pulled from most video sites.

Tee said...

louis lipps etc...

I have it as a downloadable clip, I'm thinking its .avi but it might be .wmv... if you want it let me know I'll upload it for ya. I also have a buttload of Pens fights if you want them (I'm a fight collector)

Seriously. Knock it fucking off with the Ted Nolan/Kemosabe shit. You make me embarrassed to be from Pittsburgh.
