Pens play Kovalchuk and the Thrashers on Saturday night in Atlanta.
I have no idea why, but I have a feeling the Pens will win.
To refresh some people's memories:
This whole Kovalchuk thing started last year when, with the Thrashers already up 4-0, Crosby slashed Kovalchuk and got a penalty for it.
On the ensuing powerplay, this happened:
With the brass of a riverboat gambler, Kovalchuk had this to say about Crosby:
"He takes those stupid penalties all the time. He's an 18 year old kid, and he can't play like this. He starts yapping about his teammates in the newspapers ... I don't know, he should play really hard on the ice and keep it at that."Sidney Crosby...what's your always media-friendly response?
I'm not a fighter. I'm not going to go out there and drop the gloves with him. He's a skilled guy, and he's a great player. I respect him as a player, but that's as far as I'll go."
And, finally, we have heard from numerous sources that the Pens are upgrading their blue-line corps.
